LET’S HAVE A FRANK DISCUSSION ABOUT ACADEMIC INTEGRITY
Basically, it is not acceptable to turn in work that is not your own for a grade. What does this mean
to you and what are my expectations for this course?
1. You will understand what the university’s policy on Academic Integrity are: Please go to this website Academic
Integrity Policy. Offenses against the University’s Code of Academic Integrity are deemed serious and insult the
integrity of the entire academic community. Any suspected violations of the Code are taken very seriously and
will be forwarded to the Center for Student Ethics & Standards for further intervention. To read the Code of
Academic Integrity and learn more about the Center for Student Ethics and Standards, visit their website at:
http://www.uvm.edu/cses/?Page=ah.html&SM=ahmenu.html
2. While it is okay to seek help from the instructor, the TA, tutors or peers, it is not okay to have one of them
complete your work that you are turning in for a grade. SPECIFICALLY:
 SUGGESTED HOMEWORK PROBLEMS AND DISCUSSION BOARD. If you need help with suggested
homework problems, you may ask for help through the discussion board for that module . You may
use your book, notes, calculator, and online calculators to help you do the problems.
 ONLINE HW QUIZZES It is recommended that you treat this as an opportunity to see how you would
do with the exams. You should complete the online quizzes after you have done the suggested
homework problems from the textbook. Try not to use any notes or books for the first attempt at a
problem. You will have two attempts for each problem. It is expected that you will complete the
quizzes on your own.
 ONLINE TESTS To ensure the academic integrity of the testing process, we will have proctored
exams through Proctor U, www.ProctorU.com, OR through a Certified Exam Proctoring Center .
http://www.ncta-testing.org/cctc/find.php. You will need to plan ahead, schedule the exam and pay
for any expenses incurred. You will take the scheduled proctored exam with your PHOTO ID, laptop
that has all the necessary software installed, and calculator. In order to receive full credit for the
exam, you will be required to submit an Excel Workbook with all the details of your work for the
exam.
 CASE STUDIES Each case study is to be analyzed and written by yourself only. You will be expected
to turn in your own word document that you created and your own excel spreadsheet/workbook
that you created with all the analysis included. You may only ask the TA and/or myself about the
case studies.
3. You will keep a separate spiral bound notebook with all your handwritten work for ALL homeworks, quizzes,
exams, and case studies AND you will keep ALL of your explicitly labelled (with problem numbers) EXCEL
worksheets/workbooks in a folder. If I suspect any cheating, I reserve the right to request “your work” to verify
its authenticity. If you cannot provide detailed work, it will be assumed that you did not follow the Academic
Integrity code.
4. If you have any doubts as to upholding academic integrity, please ask me for clarification.
HONOR CODE
I have read all of the above and understand that it is my responsibility to uphold Academic Integrity in all the work
that I complete for this course. I will turn in my own work for this course’s assignments.
