Human Resources Administrative Liaison
Reporting to the Director/Principal, the Human Resources Administrative Liaison will provide
administrative and office management support in the operation of the school. The Administrative
Liaison will also provide direction to the office staff within the school and maintain good working
relationships and communication with students, parents, teachers, support staff and the community.
This position is non-unionized.
Summary of Duties
 Provide confidential administrative support to the Director/Principal and Board of Trustees;
 Prepare, edit and format Board, School, School Council, and Section 68 agenda items and
reports;
 Arrange, participate and take minutes at meetings (e.g , Board, In-Camera Board, Section 68,
various staff);
 Manage and maintain up-to-date records, guidelines and reports in accordance with Ministry and
Board policy and procedures;
 Oversee entry of all Ministry data and statistical reports in accordance with timelines;
 Oversee Human Resources functions within the school (e.g., maintaining employee files,
monitoring employee benefits, pension plans, bi-weekly approval of payroll)
 Participate in negotiations, grievance meetings and arbitration hearings
 Participate in and coordinate the staff selection process
 Act as a first line response for school staff on human resources issues.
 Manage and maintain the daily budget including petty cash, purchasing, meeting expenses, and
classroom and office budget and support the audit process
 Coordinate school budget planning process and assist in the development of the school budget
 Coordinate and manage special events and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
 Three year community college diploma in human resources administration or related field with
three years progressively responsible related experience, or an equivalent combination of
education and experience;
 Experience administering human resources procedures;
 Proven supervisory experience;
 Computer skills that include word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, e-mail, Internet and
employee information systems;
 Proven ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with trustees, staff, parents,
students, and internal/external organizations;
 Strong problem-solving and time management skills;
 Proven ability to organize and coordinate a diverse number of projects;
 Demonstrated ability to handle matters requiring high levels of diplomacy, sensitivity and
confidentiality;
 Knowledge and understanding of School/Authority/Ministry policies and procedures, collective
agreements, employment/labour legislation and Ministry directives; and
 Flexibility to adapt to a changing work environment.
Salary:
$70,497 - $84,605 annually
