ABOUT THE LEAD FUNDRAISER POST
This post is ideal for someone who really wants to connect with the clients in their charity and
see the tangible impact they are having.
Paul’s Cancer Support Centre
We are an innovative, community based cancer support charity serving communities in south,
west and central London. We also have aspects of our work that are national in reach.
We're here for people affected by cancer from the moment of diagnosis to the end of their lives,
giving information and support, providing complementary therapies and teaching self help skills.
We offer services not only to those diagnosed with cancer, but also to family members, carers
and friends.
We have pioneered complementary therapies, self-help techniques and patient information
guidance for people affected by cancer which have now been widely adopted throughout the
country. Today, we remain committed to providing therapies and services which are truly
beneficial while continuing our tradition of innovation to meet the challenges of the new cancer
environment. Some of our work is changing in response to the external climate, and further
change is expected in response to the changing context of health and social care services.
The Lead Fundraiser role
The Lead Fundraiser will work closely with the Business Director and Services Director (who
share leadership of the organisation), and take the lead on raising funds. The post offers
considerable scope for an energetic self-starter to use innovative ideas to develop our work and
increase income.
The Lead Fundraiser has prime responsibility for the organisation and implementation of
applications to trusts, companies, Lottery and (if available) statutory sources; for Major Donor
giving; fundraising events and other donations. The Lead Fundraiser is responsible for timely
reporting and follow up on grants received, and for relationship management with donors of all
kinds. The assistance of a part-time fundraiser is available and wherever possible, volunteers are
deployed to help with aspects of the task, particularly with regard to fundraising events.
The post-holder will also feed into the continuous development of fundraising strategies, driving
to increase income in all areas.
Requisite skills and experience
This role ideally needs someone with some experience of all major categories of fundraising.
However, a bright applicant with a good track record will be able to learn the requisite additional
1
skills and approaches. You will need to be highly organised, and able to deal with a range of
donors and stakeholders from the highest level to local trusts and foundations.
You will be passionate about helping people living with cancer to achieve a better quality of life.
This is an excellent opportunity to work in a friendly and committed organisation, where people
are valued.
If you are applying for this position with transferable skills, your CV and letter of application must
show evidence of your understanding of fundraising.
Practical details

per week. Evening and weekend work is sometimes necessary. Time off in lieu can be taken by
prior arrangement. The period to the end of October coincide with the end of a maternity leave

aspects of fundraising.
