Travelcard/Freedom Pass/Oystercard for travel. Warm, waterproof clothing and good walking

Course aims: To promote interest in and gain knowledge of London.
Any prior knowledge or entry requirements?
No previous knowledge required. Students should be good walkers and prepared to stand for
some time.
Course content: what topics will the course cover?
Provisional order: St James’s Park and The Mall, Fitzrovia, Greenwich Peninsula, ‘Little Italy’,
Holland Park, Origins of the Medieval City, Notting Hill, Bayswater, The British Museum, ‘A
Christmas Carol in the City’.

Questions will be asked during the visits. A quiz may be arranged at the end. Your Learning Record
will ask you to consider how far you feel you have progressed.
Learning outcomes: these are the intended outcomes and may be revised in discussion with the
class. Students are encouraged to think about and identify their own individual outcomes.
By the end of the course, students should be able to:
1. Have a better knowledge of London in general

Describe the locations visited

Comment on the historical development of the areas visited

Comment on artistic/ architectural features observed
