Desc: 360 degrees Ceiling Mount PIR Intrusion Detector
The intrusion detector shall operate on the verified intrusion principle using Passive Infrared
(PIR), and shall be Listed by Underwriter’s Laboratories, Inc..
OUTPUT AND ENCLOSURE
The detector shall provide the detection, signal processing, alarm relay, and operating
power circuitry in the same enclosure; and shall provide an alarm relay actuation upon the
detection of an intruder moving into or through its protection pattern. The enclosure shall be
ready for mounting to a ceiling without modification.
The total weight shall be 7.90 oz. (224g)
The detector shall feature each single piece main and sensor electronics boards whose
circuitries are specifically designed for this detector alone, and which have sustained a
substantial “Burn-in” test for several days. The boards shall be mounted to a housing being
secured with screws. The case shall include easy wiring knockout.
LED OPERATION
The detector shall incorporate 2 Red LEDs to indicate the operating conditions. 2 Red LEDs
illuminated shall indicate an alarm condition. 2 Red LEDs not illuminated shall indicate a
non-alarm condition. 2 Red LEDs blinks shall indicate a warm-up period that shall be
approximately 20 seconds. The LED Indicators optionally shall be capable of being disabled
using an On/Off DIP switch or remote controlled by control panels through D.L. terminal.
POWER REQUIREMENT
The detector shall be capable of operating from a DC power source rated within the range of
6 – 18 Volts DC, and shall draw a normal of 13 milli-Amps (mA) and a maximum of 18
milli-Amps (mA) within this range.
ALARM OPERATION
A condition of alarm shall occur when PIR alarm condition are met. The Sensitivity shall be 3
degree F (1.6 degree C) at 2 ft./sec. (0.6 m/sec.). A sensitivity adjustment shall include
settings of L(Low), M(Middle) and H(High) by a selector switch. The detectable speed shall
be 1 – 6 ft./sec. (0.3 – 1.8m/sec.). The alarm period shall be 2.0 +/- 0.5 seconds. The alarm
output shall be capable of handling 28 Volts DC, 0.2 Amps (A) maximum, N.C.. The pulse
count shall be 20 +/- 5 seconds, and shall allow for a selection mode of 1, 2 or 4 triggers to
initiate an alarm output. The detector shall signal the condition of alarm using a Normally
Closed Reed Relay with terminal strip connectors. The detector shall also contain a tamper
switch that shall be capable of handling 30 Volts DC, 0.1 Amps (A) maximum, N.C., that
shall open when the cover is removed.
To accomplish PIR detection, the detector shall contain a sealed Pyro-Electric sensor
peaked for the detection of far-infrared energy in the 10-micro meters. The detector shall
achieve high reliable detection performance against false and missed alarms.
SENSOR STABILITY
To guard against false activations caused by RF interference, the detector shall incorporate
RFI Protection capability that cancels 30 Volts/meter RFI noise without any false alarm.
The multi-focus lens shall create zones with high vertical density, providing maximum
detection sensitivity that shall remain stable even in these high temperature conditions. The
detector shall be rated to operate within the temperature range of minus 4 degrees F (- 20
degree C) to plus 122 degree F (+50 degrees C). The detector shall also tolerate an
environmental humidity rate of 95% maximum. No false alarm shall occur within these
operating conditions.
Sealed optics shall also eliminate the change of false alarm due to drafts or small insects.
The Pyro shall be sealed with the inside of the molding of the housing cover to prevent these
elements from affecting the pyro-electric sensor.
LENS AND DETECTION PATTERN
The detector shall contain a durable and high grade UV resistant Fresnel lens that shall
focus received infrared energy onto the sensor. The precision with which this lens is
designed shall enable the detector to provide reliable detection throughout its 360 degrees
area. The sensor and module combined shall construct 360 degrees of protection, with 276
dense zones. The coverage pattern shall be 30 – 60 ft. (9 – 18 meters) in diameter.
The mounting height of the detector shall be 8 – 16 ft. (2.4 – 5 meters).
The unique “Zoom” mechanism shall make the special lens up and down by rotating the
housing cover to be adjusted fit to the installation hight. It shall provide a full cover detection
area at any installation height within the range, with absolutely no dead spot.
MODEL
The Intrusion Detector shall be model SX-360Z (360 degrees Ceiling Mount PIR Intrusion
Detector).
