Recycling in Cíbola County
Look for Community Drop-off Bins! They are located in downtown
Grants, at the Smith’s Food & Drug store, at the John Brooks Market in
Milan, at the convenience stations in Bluewater Lake, Cubero, and
Seboyeta, and at the Inscription Rock Trading & Coffee Co. at El Morro.
When can I take my recyclables to the Transfer Station?
The Transfer Station accepts recyclables on Mondays through Saturdays between
8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
What recyclables can I take to the Transfer Station?
(This list subject to change)








Aluminum cans
Steel or tin cans (rinsed and labels removed)
Corrugated cardboard (N)O cereal box or tissue box type “cardboard” at this time)
White paper (copy and bond; staples, paper clips, and any plastic tabs are okay)
Newspapers
Mixed paper including magazines, catalogs, and other clean paper of all types. Paper items with
personal information on them should be shredded for safety, then bagged for windproofness.
Most e-waste (laptops, servers, keyboards, monitors, scanners, printers, fax machines, and cell phones,
etc.)
Plastics bottles numbered 1 and 2, ALL CAPS removed and NO black plastic please at this time.
Do I have to separate my recyclables before I drop them off?
Yes; please separate different types of items ahead of time. Mixed paper items such as magazines and
catalogs can be put together in the Mixed Paper bin. Plastic items should have ALL CAPS removed. Plastic
bottles number 1 and 2 can all be combined, but no BLACK plastic please at this time.
Do I have to pay to drop off my recyclables?
Most items can be dropped off for no charge. There are fees for certain things – televisions and monitors
($10), passenger car tires ($3 per tire), truck tires ($8 per tire), and tractor tires ($25 per tire). These prices are
subject to change without notice.
Do I have to flatten cardboard boxes first?
Yes; please flatten boxes. Also, only corrugated cardboard can be accepted. That’s the kind with wavy layers.
What if I also have trash to drop off at the transfer station?
Trash and recyclables have to be weighed and dropped off separately. Drive onto the scale. Tell the attendant
that you have trash and recyclables. They will explain the order of drop-off. You will only have to pay for the
trash weight.
What does it cost to drop off solid waste at the transfer station?
Fees are calculated by weight. The minimum fee is $7 per load.
