AFRIMS Collaborations Tips
AFRIMS has a successful 40 years history of performing important tropical disease research. Our
Facilities are well recognized in the region and respected internationally. Our leadership supports
a collaborative research environment that capitalized on the respective strengths of each partner.
AFRIMS Resources
A few of the potential advantages to investigators conducting tropical disease
research in collaboration with AFRIMS are:
Infrastructure – A well-equipped research laboratory with an
accredited veterinary facility. Multiple field sites throughout region.
Location – Located in Bangkok, a regional hub, close to Mahidol
University Faculty of Tropical Medicine and other academic
institutions.
Staff – Over 300 trained Thai and US staff at AFRIMS. Most highly skilled and many
have decades of experience in their field.
Regulatory – All human and animal research conducted in accordance with both US and
local host-nation standards.
AFRIMS Support
AFRIMS will assist with cooperative agreements, joint grant applications, joint grant
applications, field site development, logistical support, and regulatory
affairs, as well as identifying prospective local collaborators.

AFRIMS research activities and field sites and may serve a source of ideas
for potential collaborative projects.
