All: Congratulations Tia Baumberger for being selected to the South Dakota Class B All-State Basketball Team! All: Congratulations to the essay winners from the 7th grade D.A.R.E program, Tamera Martin and Jamie Hertel. The entire class received their certificate of completion and T-shirt at the D.A.R.E. graduation ceremony on April 1st. Guest speaker, Heather Gall, spoke to the students about good decisions and refreshments were served. Thank you to our local law enforcement, especially Deputy Alan Dale, for conducting this valuable drug and alcohol awareness ten week course. Nehl-Librarian HS Students and Staff: Today, Thursday, April 9th, the students will leave for the College Fair in Isabel at 8:30am and will return shortly before the end of the school day so they can ride the bus home. Students DO need to have a make-up slip completed to go. If you do not remember whether or not you signed up please see Mrs. Bubbers. High School: Prom is scheduled for April 10th. Grand March will start at 8pm. Picture times have been set. Please see the picture schedule at the office to ensure you are aware of any schedule changes. You have the option to then purchase the pictures. The cost for pictures is $15. High School: The Prom Memory Glasses have arrived. A sample of the glass is on display in the office. Pay now, pick-up now. The cost of the glasses is two for $15 or $8 each. All: Students interested in Drivers’ Education please sign up at the office. Classroom education will be May 18-20 and 22. Driving practice times will be assigned in class. You must be age 13 by April 1, 2015 to take Drivers’ Ed. Track: The first track meet of the year is scheduled for Thursday, April 9th, in Mobridge! The meet starts at 9am and is Varsity Track only. The bus will leave at 7am. All: Four of our seniors will be participating in the All Star Games in Mobridge this Saturday, April 11th at the Scherr-Howe Arena. All are welcome to attend as Kyle Mollman, Kyle Edinger, Tia Baumberger, and Shayna Mosbrucker play these exciting games with other local senior athletes. The girls’ game begins at 5pm MST, followed by the boys’ game (about 7pm MST). There will also be a 3 Point Contest, a Slam-Dunk Contest, and other top-notch entertainment. It is a great time for the players and the fans. ________________________________________________________________________________________ GUIDANCE SECTION 9th-11th grade students: The schedule for next fall is ready. If you would like to register for next year's classes you may do so. I will be coming into the study halls when I am available, and you are welcome to set up a time with me at your convenience as well. Remember that parent signatures will be required as usual. Seniors: The MTA Spirit Scholarship is due on April 30th. I taped a copy in your lockers. You all have a chance to win this if you are planning to attend college in the fall. It is $500 of free money!!! Native American Students: Native American students who wish to become trained as a Water Resources Technician and then receive a four month voucher for employment with a tribal or other government agency in an entry level Water Resources Field please see Mrs. Bubbers. You must be 18 to apply. High School Students: There will be a Military Academy Day on Saturday, April 25th at the Capitol Lake Visitor's Center in Pierre. This is for you to learn about military academies and how to apply. See me if you are interested. Mrs. Bubbers _________________________________________________________________________________________ COMMUNITY SECTION 8th -11th graders: Our local Conservation Office is sponsoring students interested in attending the South Dakota Wildlife Federation Youth Conservation Camp. This camp is for “potential leaders interested in hunting, fishing, outdoor activities and conservation.” If you are interested please see Mandy at the office for more information and an application. All: The City of McIntosh is looking for life guards for this summer. You may pick up an application at the office. All: The SD Dept of Transportation has a position available for Field Transportation Aide. You must be age 18 and have a valid driver’s license. Applications are available in the office if you are interested. Closing date is March 31. All: The Farm Service Agency is looking for a tree planting crew for this summer. Please stop by the McIntosh FSA/Conservation Office for more information. Ages 14-18: The South Dakota Youth Range Camp is designed to train tomorrow's leaders in range and natural resource management and stewardship of natural resources. The camp provides hands-on experience with rangeland resources. Campers learn about: range plant identification; ecological sites; similarity index; stocking rates; wildlife habitat on rangeland; range improvements; rangeland ecology; plant anatomy and growth; soils and geology; and information on careers. The 39th Annual Youth Range Camp is scheduled for June 3-5, 2015 in Sturgis, SD. The camp is open to young adults (male and female) ages 14 through 18 who have a sincere desire to learn more about the range resource and its management.
