Stephen Carlin
Carlin has earned critical acclaim, accolades and a growing fanbase with
his original and insightful writing style and accomplished delivery. He is a very
enigmatic act, using a unique pattern of delivery to amuse the audience with
very unexpected and off the wall references. From his sartorial elegance to his
in-depth and hilarious knowledge of International snooker, Carlin’s performance
takes the audience into the mind of a passionate obsessive. This man is well on
his way to become Scotland's newest addition to its history of brilliant
comedians. He was also named by Stewart Lee as one of the ‘Ten Best Comedians
in the World Ever’. In 2011, Stephen co-created and co-wrote the new BBC Radio
4 show 'The Headset Set', set in the Smile5 Call Centre.

Stephen Carlin: Gambling Man (Edinburgh Festival 2013)
"I suggest you take a very minor gamble on spending an hour of your life in
Stephen Carlin’s company, if nothing else you’ll be guaranteed a few good
laughs" **** The Edinburgh Reporter
‘Droll and furrowed and gorgeous. Awesome joke writer. We’ve shared a bill
several times, including an Edinburgh preview in Brighton a while back, and I
watch him wondering why I bother.’ Scott Capurro in Time Out London 2013

"...This capacity crowd falling at Carlin’s feet. Sharp observational routines on
drinking, Scottish culture, and male “friendship” are expertly woven together,
and the segue to and from a skilled analytical heckler putdown is as smooth as
tonight’s headliner…" Elliott Clarke, Giggle Beats 2013

"Unsettlingly funny with flashes of greatness" The List
"...he delivers a pitch perfect and very funny show... dry and absurdist wit...
There's a mixture of observational stuff, one-liners and funny anecdotes, all held
together by Carlin's intelligent sense of the surreal and the ridiculous. This is
perfectly complemented by his droll and quirky style of delivery... All in all, it's a
great show, well written and expertly performed." **** - Spoonfed
