LONDON
London is the capital of the United Kingdom. It´s the 9th largest city in the world –
its polulation is about 10 million. London is situated on the river Thames in east England.
There are many places of interest. We can see them by walking or by various means of
transport. London´s famous red DOUBLE-DECKERS go almost everywhere. For fast transport we
can go by UNDERGROUND. It is the oldest underground in the world.
There are also 3 AIRPORTS.
There are a lot of sights, which you should visit.
THE HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT - there is famous clock-tower with Big Ben (big bell)
WHITEHALL is the street where the government offices are.
DOWNING STREET 10 – is the official home of British prime minister.
WESTMINSTER ABBEY – it´s a big gothic kathedral, where the Britain´s kings and queens
were crowned.Here´s buried Chaucer, Newton...
St. PAUL´S KATHEDRAL – is one of the largest kathedral in the world.
It´s work of famous architect Christopher Wren.
is known for its Whispering Gallery
Prince Charles and Lady Diana were married here.
THE CITY – is the oldest part of London. (was founded by Romans in 43 AD)

THE TOWER – it served as Royal palace first, but then as prison and fortress
– now is here a museum and The Crown Jewels are kept there.
TOWER BRIDGE – symbol of L. It can open in the middle and let large ships go through.
TRAFALGAR SQUARE – ther´s a Nelson´s statue on a high column.
