CALL TO ORDER
President called the meeting to order at 6:35
OFFICERS REPORTS
VICE PRESIDENT REPORT
-Not many tier III teams left, at the Midget 18u level we are the only one, 16u has
Batavia and Jamestown
-We are the only association with four teams in Tier III
-State meeting was really big on concussions this year
-We need a concussion policy
-Are there other associations with concussion policies? Yes- we will look at a few
and change what we see fit
-North Town Center will host States again this year March 7th-9th for PeeWee and
Bantam March 14th –16th for Midget
PRESIDENT REPORT
-Meeting with the rink tomorrow about ice times
-Billboards
-All teams must go to annual meeting or associations will be fined, requirement is
1 person from each team as a representative
-Midget meeting is Aug 14th at 7:00
-Midget games can start Aug 1st, they will be starting practice next Tuesday July
22nd
NEW RULES FOR 2013-2014 SEASON
-Need to stress rule changes to coaches
-Any boarding, head check or charging penalties will be an automatic 2 and 10
or worse
-Stressing protecting goalies
-No open ice checking
-Voted on nationally
-A check is to gain possession of the puck, you can’t be going for the guy, you
Must go for the puck
-Intent to injury is an automatic match penalty
-Rosters or score sheets do not have to be signed ever..USA eliminated it
SCREENING
-Everyone on the board needs to do it
WEBSITE
-Andrew wants to switch our domain for the website (Eaglezip is very hard to
work with) to Invision Wise for $600 they will set it up and a cost of $50 a
month to maintain
-Possible to get sponsors on the website to pay the monthly maintenance fee
-Russ proposes an online option for people to register and pay the tournament fees
-Russ motions to put Greg in charge of website (Joe says Terri can help too)
-Greg will talk to Andrew about when we last paid the bill with EagleZip
-Greg motions to go ahead with the new company if it all checks out Dan
seconded it…all voted yes
-Rink contacted us about a logo on the ice for the Lakers
-Cost $4.50 per square foot
-Greg made a motion to decline, Russ 2nd it…board voted to decline the logo
HIGH SCHOOL
-High school hockey will return to USA hockey next year
-8th graders will not be eligible
REGISTRAR’S REPORT
-Need the midget bar codes ASAP
TREASURER REPORT
-Need someone to go through billed ice to compare with what we have actually
used
-Issue will be tabled for now
-Need to figure out ice fees, to approve ice bills
TOURNAMENT
-Russ contacted by the Erie Otters, they would like to be more involved
-Ted says Hometown Grill would like to sponsor the tournament
MITES
-Will stay USA hockey
-Greg motions to approve
-Board voted to approve
-The team that was set up for possible AAU will stick together as a cross-ice team
-We lost 31 players at 8u with the ADM last year
SCHOLARSHIPS
-Need a committee to review applications and bring to the board
-All applicants will be known by a number, and not their name
-If your child receives a scholarship, you must commit to volunteer 3 to 5 hours at
The tournament
-Marlene, MaryJo, and Ted said they would be the committee
-1 scholarship per family
-Motion to approve from Carl Olson
-Board voted to approve
