1. Additions and Deletions:
a. District Allergy List
i. Tabled until the October meeting
b. Auto Hoist Annual Inspections
i. Engineer has been scheduled to inspect the hoists at
McNair, Richmond and Cambie.
c. Committee representation:
i. Philip will contact all representatives to ensure they
provide a name of an alternative for all meetings if they
can’t attend
ii. It is critical that someone from each group is always
represented
2. New Business:
a. Earthquake Day – June 3, 2009
i. City of Richmond has been asked by the Provincial
Government to host an Earthquake Day on June 3, 2009
ii. City has met with Philip and a formal letter of participation
will be forthcoming.
iii. City of Richmond will take the lead on this project and may
involve the school district and the airport.
iv. Philip to get more information and to provide a memo of a
“heads up” nature to all work sites

i. Topics and presenters were discussed

3. School Safety Response Plan – Rob Inrig
4. Roles and responsibilities and the range of topics to
be covered by site committees will be handled by a
panel of all District committee members
5. How to do an inspection – Reynold
6. what to do when injured on the job – Philip
7. forms and procedures – Philip
8. Worksafe B.C. – Ian Solomon

i. Members are asked to review these guidelines and get
feedback to Philip

i. Discussion as to how it is known that an accident
investigation has been followed up on
Fire Safety training for custodians
i. Philip to find out if custodians get trained too and/or if it is
needed
ii. Philip did send out a memo re custodians on the roof
iii. More on the topic of Fire safety training at the October
meeting

b. Fire Safety Training for School Administrators
i. Tentative date set for Oct 27/08
ii. Don to report on this program at the November meeting
iii. This topic brought up the question of how reverse
evacuation is practiced. Liz and Lynn will check with their
respective administrators
iv. John Orso is the trainer
c. Medical Alert Bracelets - No Child Without Program
i. Last Inservice and registration was on Sept 15/08
ii. 13 additional schools registered
d. Exposure to Chemical and Biological Agents
i. No new information
e. Occupational Health and Safety Handbook review
i. Important to add Risk Assessment info to the Health and
Safety guidelines
f. Hand washing signs
i. Philip to generate a memo that suggests schools design
and laminate a sign to post around all sinks that reminds
all of the importance of hand washing
g. Eye washing stations
i. Suggestion is to add this topic to the training session and
then to ensure the site based committees check these as
part of routine inspection
h. Ideas for monthly site based meetings
i. Discussion of various topics
ii. Then it was noted that pages 43 – 54 of the Occupational
Health and Safety Handbook has several excellent
suggestions which need to be pointed out to everyone
