Regulations
Purpose and Background
In recognition of academic achievements of students, Lingnan University 1947 Class (the
Donor) donated HK$100,000 to Lingnan University (the University) for the establishment of
an endowment fund (the Fund) to provide annual scholarships from the academic year
1998/99.
The principal of the Fund of HK$100,000 will be used to award Scholarships for twenty years
and be effective from the academic year 2012/13 to 2031/32. The following regulations
shall apply as of 2015/16.
1.
The Scholarships shall be known as the “Lingnan University 1947 Class Alumni Golden
Jubilee Scholarships” (嶺南大學1947超社離校五十週年金禧紀念獎學金).
2.
The Scholarships shall be awarded to five students in each academic year. The value of
each scholarship shall be HK$1,000 per annum.
Eligibility
The Scholarships shall be awarded to five full-time students, two from the Faculty of Arts,
two from the Faculty of Business and one from the Faculty of Social Sciences respectively.
Criteria
The Scholarships shall be awarded on the basis of academic merit. But if there are candidates
of comparable academic merits, their involvement in extra-curricular activities should also be
taken into consideration.
Procedure
1.
The Student Services Centre will administer the Scholarships.
2.
The Student Services Centre will submit the recommendations of the Scholarships to
the Donors for approval.
3.
The regulations may be revised subject to mutual agreement between the Donors and
the University.
