CRYSTAL GROWTH ENGINEER
Photonic Products Group Inc. (PPGI), a leading producer of OEM custom optics, optical
coatings, crystals and systems has an opening for an additional Crystal Growth Engineer
at its Northvale, NJ facility. This position reports to the VP, Research & Development.
This position is responsible for performing crystal growth operations in a production
environment, build, maintain and repair growth equipment, document and improve
crystal growth processes, and assist in R&D work to identify new crystals and
applications.
Essential responsibilities include:
- Produce quality on-time crystals to meet production requirements.
- Assist senior staff in research & development activities relating to new crystal
development and applications.
- Document and improve crystal growth processes in both solution and high
temperature mediums.
- Build, maintain, trouble shoot and repair crystal growth equipment.
- Assist in reporting of progress and performance to customers.
- In conjunction with senior staff, responsible for growth operations including
preparing chemicals, setting up growth stations, and seeding.
- Monitor and control growth processes by using visual, instrumentation and
computerized methods.
- Work with manufacturing, sales, engineering and fabrication to meet customer
needs.
Candidates should have a BS/MS in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or related
hard science degree, with two years hands on experience in a production environment.
Strong scientific documentation/writing and lab protocol and procedures required.
Working knowledge of mechanics and electronic highly desired. Some
experience/understanding of radiation detection is a plus. Candidates must also be
organized and comfortable using complex data to drive improvements.
