A Letter to Embargo by the Rambler

July 2006

Dear Sir/Madam

First I would like to give a short history of my association with Cyprus, I have been to your country many times before the 1974 war, during the war and after, as a British serviceman and as a UN soldier just after the war, stationed in different Turkish Cypriot villages to protect them from the Greek Cypriot excesses in Southern Cyprus, I can attest to what took place at that time. I fully support your aims as I feel a great injustice has taken place, I have joined Eupro and have written to Ken Livingstone and take every opportunity to put people right as to what I saw and what took place in Cyprus at that time.

I would now like to describe a country to you, it is a country that talks of Honour, Respect,

Honesty and Truth all of which I can say I have, as my many friends will attest to.

It is a country where Solicitors break the law with impunity, it is a country were you are lied to, misled, threatened, intimidated, because you complain because you have been treated unjustly.

It is a country where a President and Prime Minister promise to deal with the offenders and do nothing, make promises to the Homebuyers Pressure Group and do nothing.

A country where the Interior Minister blames foreigners for the criminal behaviour of solicitors, builders and estate agents.

A country where over 1,000+ of the now 10,000 foreigners living there have been cheated and lied to and the number is growing.

It is a country where builders can say I am like a king, take me to court it will take you 3 years and you will lose, so far he has been right.

A country, if you are Turkish Cypriot the courts will lean towards them at the expense of justice and the foreigner.

This is not Brittan or Southern Cyprus, this description is the TRNC, isn’t it strange that the people who are asking for our support are the very people committing the offences against foreigners Human rights and the right to receive impartial justice.

I am a member of the Homebuyers Pressure Group, a group that has worked tirelessly for justice for there 1000+ members and it should be noted, with no support from the Turkish

Cypriot People, I write this email with regret not as a member but as an individual who is tired of hearing how you want justice and your human rights but are not willing to see justice and the human rights of people within your own country.

If you believe that the 10000+ foreigners (mainly British) are not supporting the TRNC, think again. These residents spend and invest in the TRNC a minimum of £130,000,000 a year, therefore, is it not right that they should receive their Human Rights and justice?

Shame on you.

Why don’t you explain to all the HBPG members why they should support your bid for

Justice and your Human rights, when ours have been trashed.

A copy of this letter has been posted on the HBPG site, letters board.
