Executive Board Member Responsibilities:
<A> President
The duties and responsibilities of the Executive Director/President are as follows:
 Represent the BCCSSA (Boston College Student and Scholar Association)
o Serve as a BCCSSA Representative on inter-college meetings and
conferences in Boston.
o Serve on at least one GISA committee meeting
 Maintain a working correspondence with the BC Chinese students, faculty, staff,
and administration
 Organize and evaluate every CSSA activity and event
 Coordinate academic, social, and service programs with the CSSA Board
members
 Cooperate with Treasure on the CSSA budget, which includes all CSSA financial
transactions
 Maintain a presence during the summer months to prepare CSSA for the
upcoming academic year, including the Chinese Student Orientation Programs
 Provide the CSSA updated information to Tech Information Chair
 Other duties as required by the CSSA and as requested by Graduate Student
Organizations such as GSA, GISA.
 Find Representatives from each department to serve on the CSSA Council
 Serve as the main contact within Chinese Graduate Students
 Chair most CSSA Council Meetings and CSSA Board of Directors Meetings
<B> Vice-President
The duties and responsibilities of the Vice President are as follows:
 Represent the BCCSSA (Boston College Student and Scholar Association)
o Serve as a BCCSSA Representative on inter-college meetings and
conferences in Boston.
o Serve as one GISA Executive Board Member
 Serve in the absence of the CSSA President
o Learn the financial process with the President
 Oversee BCCSSA legislative affairs, including administering the processes for
constitutional changes
 Have the capability of team-working with each community chair.
 Cooperate with President on every event and activity among campus throughout
academic year.
 This position is a unpaid position
<C> Social, Community and Alumni (Chair and Vice)
The duties and responsibilities of the Social, Community and Alumni chair are as
follows:
 Represent the BCCSSA (Boston College Student and Scholar Association)
o Serve at least one time as a BCCSSA Representative on inter-college
meetings and conferences in Boston.
 Interact with each representatives from different schools/departments among
Boston College
 Connect with BC Alumni (focusing on Chinese Alumni) and professors
 Organize workshops occasionally on frequently discussed topics
 Cooperate with each department chair on CSSA activities and events
 Connect with representatives among different institutions in Boston Area
(focusing on Harvard, MIT, BU, Northeastern)
<D>Secretary
The duties and responsibilities of the Social, Community and Alumni chair are as
follows:
 Take Minutes at all scheduled BCCSSA Meetings, and post on web page/email to
all CSSA members
 Reserve room and space for CSSA meetings
 Cooperate with EVERY department chair and the President on daily issues
 Work with Advertisement and Tech Info chair on newsletter and advertisements
 Make CSSA calendars and remind each department of their responsibilities
<E>Treasurer (Chair and Vice)
The duties and responsibilities of the Social, Community and Alumni chair are as
follows:
 Represent the BCCSSA (Boston College Student and Scholar Association)
o Serve at least one time as a BCCSSA Representative on inter-college
meetings and conferences in Boston.





Make sure every BCCSSA large-scale event working with enough funding
Have the ability of raising fund from different organizations
o Be able to work on fund-raising among different corporations
o Connect with each school organization among BC, and be able to work on
fund-raising among different departments
Connect with Chinese Embassy in New York
Manage and maintain BCCSSA treasure throughout academic year
Work with Advertisement and Tech Info Chair on Marketing, Advertisement and
Fund-raising issues
<F>Advertisement and Tech Info (Chair and Vice)







Represent the BCCSSA (Boston College Student and Scholar Association)
o Serve at least one time as a BCCSSA Representative on inter-college
meetings and conferences in Boston.
Publish Biweekly Newsletter with Secretary on different department chair
information
Maintain the BCCSSA Web page
Publish news in Yahoo group and Facebook group in case of activities and events
Design Documentation of Events (Fliers, newsletters, advertisements)
Review and organize suggestions, report timely to president and committee
Work with Treasure on Marketing, Advertisement and Fund-raising issues
