Background
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international humanitarian medical aid
organization working in more than 65 countries worldwide. Médecins Sans Frontières is neutral, impartial,
independent, and not linked to any political party or governmental body. It provides emergency medical
assistance to people in need, irrespective of their nationality, race or religion. In 1996, MSF received the
Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development and in 1999 MSF was awarded the Nobel
Peace Prize. MSF has worked in India since 1999 and provides medical treatment to hundreds of
thousands of Indian patients.
MSF provides free-of-charge essential healthcare. MSF runs hospitals and clinics, perform surgery, fight
epidemics, operate feeding centres for malnourished children and offer mental healthcare. MSF currently
runs projects in the states of Bihar, Manipur, Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir, Chhattisgarh and
Telangana. MSF India is one of 24 offices and operational centres in Europe, America, Asia and
Australasia, pooling funding, expertise and staff for MSF field operations. MSF India has three key
objectives in support of field operations: the recruitment of skilled medical and non-medical staff, the raising
of vital funds, and public information work.

Purpose of Post
Responsible for the daily clinical laboratory activities according to MSF protocols, security and hygiene
measures.
Functional and Hierarchical Lines
Hierarchically accountable to NAM/MTL and functionally accountable to the Project Pharmacist.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
 Carry out material orders and dispatching in order to ensure rational use.
 Receive orders and deliveries, identifying potential disparities against cargo manifest or others and
reporting them, and stores materials in accordance with the system in force, in order to ensure
continuous availability.
 Ensure correct fill in entries on the stock cards and that stock cards are updated.
 Prepare orders of the different consumption units timely according to schedule, and ensure the
packaging and proper dispatching. Reporting any anomalies or changes in consumption patterns to
the Pharmacy Supervisor. Also inform Project Pharmacist as soon as stock reaches alert limit.
 Conduct regular physical inventories and organization of stock according to MSF recommended
storage guidelines.
 Report missing material/ damage/ robbery.
 Control warehouse limited access to authorized personnel and ensure doors and other exists are
secured.
 Ensures good storage conditions of all items in the pharmacy.
 Control warehouse facilities in order to ensure materials good keeping conditions. It includes:
 Monitor temperature in the warehouse and ensure that products requiring cold chain are
suitably stored and transports received and prepared appropriately according to MSF Supply
and Cold Chain protocols
 Ensure cleanliness of premises (stock pharmacy).
 Maintain refrigerating equipment in close collaboration with the logistics department.
 Ensure temperature follow up is done and inform in case of breakdown in cold chain
 Follows up stock levels with regards to alarms thresholds, stock out, expiry dates and drugs to
expire in the following 6 months. Assist the project pharmacist in preparing monthly pharmacy
reports.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications

Minimum Diploma In Pharmacy (PCI Approved Institutes) with Science Intermediate background.
Work experience


Essential previous experience of at least 1 year in similar or relevant positions.
Desirable previous experience in MSF, other pharmacies or NGOs
Specific skills



Preferable spoken Bengali and English.
Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
Result-oriented, teamwork, flexibility, commitment, service

SALARY: Rupees 18,516 gross/month
Benefit of 13th Month Salary
PF and Gratuity are applicable as per law.
