Fee-Based Individual Tutoring Appointment Contract

Fee-based tutoring at the Learning Assistance Center is scheduled for the entire semester in consecutive weekly appointments. In order to utilize this service, you agree to pre-pay for blocks of 5 tutoring sessions. This does not limit you to only 5 tutoring sessions, you are simply paying upfront. Each session is 50 minutes long. Due to the popularity of the tutoring program, each semester there is waiting list for students who are requesting our services.

Out of respect for your tutor’s time and in consideration of all of the other students waiting, we have implemented the following policies to ensure your commitment. Failure to comply with these policies will result in the termination of tutoring services.

Expectations

Tutors are trained to help you understand the concepts of a course, explain course materials, and assist you in improving your study skills. They are not going to lecture or re-teach courses. You are expected to actively participate during sessions in order to get the most out of your time. Tutors are not allowed to do your homework or write on any of your papers.

You are expected to come prepared to tutoring appointments by having attended your classes, read course materials, and attempted homework / class exercises. Bring relevant course materials - including your textbook - to your tutoring session.

Attendance

You are expected to be here at your scheduled appointment each week. Each time you come to the Learning

Assistance Center for your tutoring appointment, you will need to check in with the front desk. They will log your appointment and let you know where to find your tutor.

Tardiness

Be On Time! Your tutor will wait for you 15 minutes beyond the scheduled start time. After 15 minutes the session will be considered unexcused and cancelled.

Cancellations

If you need to cancel your appointment, you must call the front desk at

If it is not during business hours, or no one is available to answer your call, leave a message including your name, ID number, your tutor’s name and the time of your appointment. The date and time of your call will be recorded by the voice mail system. It is very important that you speak clearly so we can easily identify the appointment and notify the tutor of the cancellation.

Excused – A cancellation that is at least 4 hours or more before your scheduled appointment will be excused. You are allowed ONE excused absence during a five-session block of appointments; this session may be rescheduled. Any further cancellations during a five-session block will not be rescheduled or refunded.

Unexcused - If you cancel less than 4 hours before your appointment time, the absence is considered unexcused. You will be charged for the session and you will not have the opportunity to reschedule.

Payment

To continue your s emester long tutoring sessions beyond the initial paid 5 session block, you must bring the appropriate fee payment to your fifth session. If you decided you no longer need tutoring sessions, you must contact the front desk at (562) 985-5350 to permanently cancel services .

If we do not hear from you, we assume you wish to continue with the tutoring and you will be responsible for paying for any unattended sessions.
