Northcliffe Outrigger Canoe Club takes great pride and pleasure in inviting members from your club to compete in the Annual 48 km Gold Coast Cup. We have a new event this year – an Iron Race which is approximately 40 km. Held on Saturday 5 April 2003.
Saturday morning courtesy buses will be available ONLY for paddlers who are staying at Sea World Nara
Resort to depart from Sea World Nara Resort to take you to Greenmount for the start of the Gold Coast Cup ultra marathon. Departure time will be posted at Friday night’s briefing and at Reception.
Saturday morning showcases the Gold Coast Cup ultra marathon OC6 (9 men, 10 women) changeover race and
OC6 (6 men/women) iron race. This race is set up to maximise the best paddling conditions available. The forecasted weather will play a major role in determining which end of the coast the Cup will start from. Canoes will be set up on beautiful Greenmount Beach, at the southern end of the Gold Coast for a start time of 8.30am.
Lined up for the start off Greenmount point, change race crews race south to the first changeover point off Cook
Island, then north along the spectacular Gold Coast beach line past Surfers Paradise to the Gold Coast Sea way.
Through the Sea way into the Broad water, for a flat-water dash to the finish line at the Southport Spit.

If the forecast conditions do not suit a Greenmount Beach start then the course will be reversed with a start at the
Southport Spit.

ALL AUSTRALIAN COMPETITORS MUST BE REGISTERED MEMBERS OF AOCRA.
ALL INTERNATIONAL COMPETITORS MUST SUBMIT PROOF OF TRAVEL SPORTS INSURANCE IN
THE COMPETITORS NAME BEFORE A NOMINATION WILL BE APPROVED.
