“Building Bridges – Making Partnerships
between Iceland, Norway and Poland”

Introduction
The European Economic Area agreement, which extends the internal market from the European Union to Iceland,
Liechtenstein and Norway, goes beyond trade and economy in order to include also a shared solidarity for a
common Europe’s future. Bearing in mind the former statement as a start point, the Scholarship and Training
Fund (STF) – a Polish “freshman” within the EEA Grants and Norway Grants financing mechanisms – is pleased to
invite applicants to attend the first STF Contact Making Seminar “Building bridges – making partnerships between
Iceland, Norway and Poland”, which will take place in Gdańsk, Poland in the beginning of October 2008.
The Contact Making Seminar is aimed both to initiate and to enhance the cooperation and building up “bridges”
of partnership between organizations representing the educational sector from Iceland, Norway and Poland
through the creation of ideas for projects which may be realized within the STF framework.
Objectives





getting to know each other: participants will have the opportunity to meet with their prospective
partners from Iceland, Norway and Poland;
networking: to bring together people working in the educational sector in order to create new project
ideas within the Scholarship and Training Fund;
building partnerships: to build new partnerships between organizations from Poland and two of the
STF donor countries;
intercultural learning: to create atmosphere of common understanding between people representing
different cultures, working styles, etc.;
transfer of knowledge and experience: to provide knowledge about possibilities for a future cooperation between organizations from Poland, Iceland and Norway; to share with the experience and
best practice examples from running/ realized projects where either Iceland, or Norway, or Poland were
involved.
Participants
Contact Making Seminar will bring together 65 participants working in educational institutions (i.e. legible
organizations):

schools,

higher education institutions,

research and scientific institutes,

other organizations and institutions active in the field of education (at all levels: primary, secondary,
bachelor’s level, higher, vocational and adult education)
as project coordinators, academics, specialists etc. Irregardless of its legal form, the institution which the
applicant will represent during the STF Contact Making Seminar must fulfill the following requirements:

be legally established in either Iceland, Norway or Poland;

be registered for at least 12 months before the submission of an application;

provide education and/or in-service training as its main statutory aim.
Applicants will be asked individually to demonstrate their experience in managing at least one
multilateral European and/or international project.
Working language of the seminar will English.
Application process
Applicants are asked to fulfill a profile application form (different for each country) and declare their willingness to
attend full programme of the seminar in order to receive financial support from the STF. Applications must be
sent to:
Applicants from Iceland
should send their application form to The Office of International Education at the
University of Iceland (OIE).
Applicants from Norway
should send their application form to The Norwegian Centre for International
Cooperation in Higher Education (SIU).
Applicants from Poland
should send their application form to the Scholarship and Training Fund, Foundation for
the Development of the Education System (FRSE).
Deadline for submitting profile application forms is September 5, 2008.
Practical information
There is no fee for the seminar. The Scholarship and Training Fund covers the following costs:

travel costs
(only for participants from Iceland and Norway; Polish participants are advised to apply for business
travel costs reimbursement to their institution);

accommodation in Hotel Orbis Posejdon in Gdańsk, Poland
