Guiding Questions:
What additional data do I need?
Additional data needed based on pp. 1-6
Information from the special education department. Why is the turnaround in the math
department so high? What forms of communication are teachers using to reach parents? What
technologies are available to teachers and students? Is there an IT person on staff? What staff
development is needed?
Additional data needed based on pp. 7-8
What type of communication is there between the regular education teachers and special
education teachers? What is the cause of the excessive absenteeism? What is the cause of the
retentions? How did students perform on EOC testing at each level?
Additional data needed based on pp. 9-13
Are IEP for special education students that failed the TAKS up to date? Why is the commended
rate so low, has there not been any professional development on diversifying lessons? How can
kids drop out in middle school?
Complete during Session 2 Assignment 1: Profile Data Analysis
Additional data needed based on Session 2 (pp. 16-19)
What significant changes were made to increase Reading scores? Can the Reading strategies be
increases and can they carry over to make gains in other subjects? What steps have been taken to
increase Math understanding? What recommendations have come from the Site Based
Committee for Math instruction across the curriculum? How is math vocabulary being taught to
students in LEP and ESL programs? Are LEP and ESL teachers working with Math teachers to
cover vocabulary before it is used in the classroom?

Based on the information I have at this time, what are the implications for LSMS?
Remember to start to forming ideas about LSMS, but don’t make any final judgments yet
Implications based on pp. 1-6 (succinct paragraph)
The school has already developed trust and good relationships in every area. Parents and
teachers both want more contact. Students, parents and teachers are willing to meet the required
goal, a good plan and support should be all that is needed to make this happen.
Implications based on pp. 7-8 (succinct paragraph)
A disconnect has occurred with some classes and sub groups. Professional development geared
toward diverse teaching for diverse classrooms could possibly be effective for the affected
teachers. Stronger relationships and trust may be needed for parents with students that are
missing excessive days of school. The importance of education may need to be shared with
students that are missing school.
Implications based on pp. 9-13 (succinct paragraph)
The challenges are bigger than they first appeared. Scores across the board must go up to reach
the next level. Teachers may be giving busy work to faster paced students to hold them until
others catch up. Regular and special education teachers as well as aides should be working
together to move the students along through the planned curriculum.
Complete during Session 2 Assignment 1: Profile Data Analysis
Implications based on Session 2 (pp. 16-19) (succinct paragraph)
Lone Star has made some changes that were affective and can possibly be built upon. Math
scores in all areas need immediate attention especially in the sub groups in ESL and LEP.
Teachers need to continue to work together across the curriculum to make additional strides in
all areas. Continued focus on Reading should not be replaced, but added to for other subjects.
