PEPI for Windows (WinPepi) T
Versions
Joe Abramson is currently working on producing a Wind
version of the renowned PEPI suite of programs. Althou

use, and appearance.
During the development phase this site will act as the d
site for PEPI modules as they become available. The las
was posted to this site on 7th November 2002.

The downloaded file will be called WinPep.exe. This is a
extracting ZIP file of currently available PEPI for Window
modules. At present it contains:
WHATIS.EXE - A calculator (an expression evaluato
24 memory registers for constants, interim results
formulae) and computes probability values (and th
inverse), confidence intervals, and time spans. Cur
version number is 4.07a.
COMPARE2.EXE - Provides procedures for use in
comparisons of two independent groups or sample
may be used for analyses of cross-sectional studie
cohort studies, case-control studies and trials, and
meta-analyses. This trial version can now be used

Compare two independent samples with
respect to proportions or odds, rates with
person-time denominators, clustered data,
nominal and ordinal categories, numerical
data (parametric and non-parametric) and
survival times. The program handles
stratified data, providing overall measures o
association and p-values, and heterogeneity
tests, as well as the fail-safe N, and
sensitivity analyses for use in meta-analysis

Compute sample sizes for tests of
equivalence (of means and proportions) as
well as for tests of differences in proportions
(including stratified data), ordered
categories, means, numbers of events, and
survival. For comparisons of means, the
program computes the sample sizes needed
to attain a desired precision as well as a
desired power.

Compute power for exact 2x2 tests,
comparisons of means, proportions, and
ordered categories, and Mantel-Haenszel
tests.

Appraise the effect of misclassification on a
2-by-2 table.
COMPARE2.EXE provides many of the functions serv
the MS-DOS format PEPI programs ATFRAC, CASECO
CHISQ, COMBINE, DIFFER, EXACT2XK, FREQ, MANNWHI
MANTELX, MISCLASS, POWR, RATES1, RATES2, SAMPLE
and SURVIVAL. Current version number is 1.06. New
features are decribed in the documentation file,
COMPARE2.TXT.
PAIRSetc.EXE - Provides functions to appraise
differences and agreement between matched samp
or observations. It is so named because it analyze
only pairs, but larger matched sets. It may be used
comparisons of two or more related samples studi
cross-sectional, cohort, case-control studies, trials
in reliability studies that compare replicate
observations or methods of measurement. The pro
handles stratified data, providing overall measures
association and agreement and probabilities, and
heterogeneity tests. Meta-analyses can be perform
by entering each study as a separate stratum. It ca
used with any kind of dependent variable: dichoto
nominal or ordered categories, or numerical
(parametric and nonparametric procedures).
PAIRSetc.EXE may be used for the following purpos

To test and measure differences between
matched samples, such as the differences
between cases and individually matched
controls (the number of controls per case
can be fixed or variable), or between
measurements made by different methods.
In studies that contrast exposure and nonexposure to a risk or protective factor or
treatment, the program computes the
number needed to avoid one event.

To compute measures of agreement (e.g.
kappa, concordance correlation coefficient,
95% limits of agreement) between matched
samples or between replicate
measurements.

To compute sample sizes and power for
studies of matched observations.

To compute sample sizes and power for
studies of matched observations.

To appraise the effect of misclassification on
the association between paired dichotomous
variables.
The current version number is 0.76. New features a
decribed in the documentation file, PAIRSETC.TXT.

Lifestyle Information Sheets for patients and healthcare professionals
Once you have properly screened and diagnosed patients, it's important to introduce them to
healthy life habits. One key to success is to have patients actively involved in developing an
effective plan for change and strategies for changing their behaviors. The American Heart
Association's Lifestyle Information Sheets educate patients on lifestyle changes to reduce risk
factors, provide means for patients to track and report their progress and allow healthcare
professionals to include specific recommendations for each patient. You can customize the patient
education sheets with your name and contact information when you print them out. Click on the links
