 Co-Coordinated of the Watershed Science Group (WSG): invited two-three speakers per term
 GSA representative sitting on the Natural Reserve System Advisory Committee.
Santa Barbara Community activities (an important component of my dissertation topic development):
 GIS short course, “The Nuts and Bolts of GIS Technologies”, SETAC conference, Santa Barbara. Designed and
instructed the course.
 Carpinteria Creek Watershed Coalition, member of the steering committee.
 Assisting in the development of the Nutrient TMDL for the Santa Clara River (Keller).
Research assistantships:
 Santa Barbara Coastal LTER: I am one of five people on the terrestrial LTER team, who are responsible for monitoring
nutrient export from the catchments along the south Coast region of Santa Barbara (Point Conception to the Santa Clara
River). This entails stream sampling, stream gauge installation, and data interpretation. John Melack.
