Role – Proven experience
Working as part of the Europe Industry Research team for the Informa Telecoms & Media
(ITM) division, the primary role of the Senior Analyst (Europe) is to ensure the delivery and
quality of Informa’s analysis, data and forecasts of telecom operator strategies within Europe.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of how to
interpret and evaluate operator performance and have a track record of being able to provide
consistent, comparable, valid and timely intelligence to a variety of stakeholders.
The Senior Analyst will be expected to produce and manage the delivery of strategic analysis,
data and forecasts focused on issues including, but not limited to: operational and financial
performance, retail & distribution strategies, churn reduction & loyalty, content & service
strategies, regulation, pricing models, handset strategies, technology deployments.
Strong analytical, numerical, research and project management skills are essential. In
addition, the analyst will be expected to demonstrate initiative and a flexible yet organised
approach to providing analysis across a range of different industry segments and subject
areas in response to changing market dynamics. This role may also have line management
responsibilities.
The role has a strong commercial element and successful candidates are expected to be
heavily involved in delivering their expertise to clients through direct interaction in the form of
presentations, seminars or ongoing support. Analysts are also closely tied into business
development activities and are expected to provide full sales support where relevant.
Fluency in another foreign European language (especially Russian, Polish or Spanish) is
strongly preferred.

To maintain collection of subscriptions, KPIs, network deployment and data usage for a
number of key markets in region.
To write detailed case studies and executive briefings examining any of the following: operator
strategies; competitive dynamics within the region / countries; the regulatory environment; new
network/technology developments; new product , services and technology landscape. These
will meet the requirements of both the regional and vertical research teams of ITM. This will
involve meeting weekly and monthly deadlines.
To assist clients and respond to clients’ queries email or telephone briefings
To be responsible for timeliness and quality of country updates, as written either by senior
analyst or research analyst (as decided by head of region).
To work with forecast team in updating subscription forecasts for a set of defined markets
To assist (lead) bespoke research projects with a Europe focus when required.
To spearhead analysis of key trends in Europe, as discussed with head of region and/or Head
of Regional Research.
To help out with business development in the region by attending client meetings (in person
and via webex) and generating leads for new business prospects.
To deliver topic-based presentations on the European telecoms markets to Informa’s clients in
the region on a regular basis.
10. Work with Account Management team to help coordinate retention and upsell strategies for
clients within the region.
11. To shape and determine the forward-looking research agenda for the Europe IC and ensure
that Informa’s research output is matched to findings from discussions with clients, decisionmakers and industry influencers.
12. To maintain a high profile within the region through relationships with all forms of media,
industry associations or through the use of social media (Twitter, ITM Blog, Linked In) to help
drive awareness and market profile of ITM within Europe.
13. To work closely with telecoms conference team to ensure maximum synergies can be
extracted from the working relationship on both sides, including speaking at Informa events,
helping shape research programmes and suggesting speakers.
14. To assist in producing fortnightly and monthly regional research overview (in form of PDF
document) containing research highlights, data sets and short news items.
15. To be responsible for the validation of forecasts for a defined set of markets (working closely
with regional research analysts).
16. To be responsible for the audit of data products for a defined set of markets (working closely
with regional research analysts).
17. To be responsible for company updates, as written either by senior analyst or research analyst
(as decided by head of region).
18. To take responsibility for the update of quarterly regional trends presentations, and to create
some market specific presentations.
Key Skills and Competencies
Essential











Knowledge of European telecoms sector
Experience of collecting and interpreting financial and operational data
Excellent writing and presentation skills
Previous relevant experience in the mobile or fixed telecoms sector
Highly organised and demonstrable ability to meet tight deadlines
Experience of analysing and commenting on operator strategies
Highly proficient at Microsoft Office applications, esp. Excel & PowerPoint
Strong understanding of key performance indicators and their role in business strategy
Excellent communication skills to liaise with other divisions/analysts
Any numerate or analytical undergraduate discipline (2:1 or higher)
A foreign language European Language

Ability to line manage/supervise others
Masters degree or other relevant postgraduate qualification
