The Department of Experimental Pathology, Immunology and Microbiology, Faculty of
Medicine, American University of Beirut, Beirut, Lebanon, seeks applications for a full-time
position at the Instructor or Assistant Professor level. This is commensurate with qualifications
of the candidate. Applicants must have a Ph.D. and at least two years of post-doctoral research
experience.
Candidates are required to have extensive research experience in Immunology and Microbiology.
Moreover the candidate is expected to be well trained in handling and working with Drosophila
melanogaster and be able to establish a drosophila laboratory that will sustain research in innate
immunity and in other immunological and microbiological areas. Applicants are also expected to
teach immunology and microbiology courses to medical, graduate, nursing and medical
laboratory technology students.
The department requires from the candidates commitment to graduate education, especially in
relation to mentorship of graduate students and other scholarly activities. Successful candidates
will be expected to seek independent intramural as well as extramural funding that will sustain
their research projects and allow the establishment of a line of research.
