Battle of the Books Rules for Participation
Thank you for choosing to become a member of Day Creek Intermediate School’s Battle of
the Books, (a.k.a. “BOB”), Team. The reading of good literature from different genres, the practice
of good sportsmanship, the development of leadership skills, and just plain FUN are some of the
many benefits you will gain with your participation in BOB. The District Competition will be held on
Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Summit Intermediate School. In order to be eligible to participate in
the competition, BOB students must finish and pass the AR Test for a minimum of 20 books from
the list of 30 BOB titles.
We are here to encourage and cheer for your reading success; however, it is your
responsibility to meet the requirements of the number of books read by the established deadlines.
Students who do not meet the deadlines will not be allowed to continue participating in BOB.
All Day Creek Intermediate students are invited to participate. We are looking forward to
getting to know you and to a rewarding year of reading. Should you have any questions regarding
involvement in Day Creek Intermediate’s Battle of the Books Club, you may contact the Librarians,
Mrs. Torres or Mrs. Ratkovic at 803-3300. Or, you may visit the District’s Battle of the Books
information site at: http://www.etiwanda.k12.ca.us/district/libmedservices/LibMedBOB_stf.htm
If you are interested in applying to participate in this year’s BOB program, please fill out,
sign, and return the bottom portion of this contract to the Library, no later than Friday, August 28,
2015. Sorry, no late applications will be accepted.
Thank you and HAPPY READING!

All 20 titles need to be read and AR tested this school year. Please do not come to the meetings if you have
