I.
CALL TO ORDER
Chair Daniels called the meeting to order, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance by Mt. Pleasant Middle
School students after which a moment of silence was observed. The following members were present: Tommy
Dudley, Loretta Goodloe, Jim Morrison, Talvin Barner, James Pennings, Shaw Daniels, Rob Burcham, and
Steve Kindler. Joe Foster, Daniel McCulley, and Jerry Lassiter were absent.
II.
ADOPT AGENDA
Upon a motion by Mr. Pennings, seconded by Mr. Dudley, Board approved the Agenda with the following
revisions: request by Chair to add under VII Unfinished Business a.1. Tommy Schuyler – Graduation Videos,
VII New Business b.2. Director Hickman evaluation, VIII New Business c.3 Spring Hill Middle School colors
and mascot and III Recognitions - Cindy Johnson, Tommy Wolaver, and Ken Wiles - retirement

RECOGNITIONS
Mt. Pleasant High School Academic Bowl students were recognized for their success in the state competition
at Austin Peay University
Central High School Bowling Team was recognized for their success in the state competition

CONSENT ITEMS
Upon a motion by Mr. Dudley, seconded by Mr. Kindler, to approve the minutes (March 11, 2010 Regular
Meeting) and (March 27, 2010 Special Called Meeting). The full Board voted to approve the motion. Motion
carried.
Executive Committee Reports approving: Request from Columbia National League to use the baseball field at
McDowell Elementary School from March –June 2010 from 4:00 pm to TBA for T-Ball practice with all use
of facilities fees waived; Request from Mt. Pleasant Jr. League Basketball to use the gym at Mt. Pleasant
Middle School on March 8-14, 2010 from 3:30 pm until 10:00 pm for basketball with all use of facilities fees
waived; Request from Columbia South Little League to use the baseball field at Baker Elementary School
March 26, 2010 until June 7, 2010 from 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm for baseball practice with all use of facilities fees
waived; Request for the Spring Hill Little League Baseball to use the softball field at Cox Middle School from

Spring Hill High School. Request from Veterinarians of Maury County & Maury County Rabies Control to
use the outside parking lot on April 17, 2010 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm; Request from Cub Scout Pack 102
to use the cafeteria at Woodard Elementary School on April 22, 2010 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm for a pack

A. Committee Reports
Facilities and Zoning – In the absence of Facilities and Zoning Committee Chair Daniel McCulley, Director
Hickman announced the Facilities/Special Called Meeting on April 26, 2010 at Horace O. Porter School at
College Hill, following the 4:30 Policy Meeting
Policy Committee – No report
Budget Committee –Budget Committee Chair Daniels reported that there has been no response from the
County Commission after the presentation of the budget.
Community Relations Committee – Community Relations Chair Loretta Goodloe announced that the next
meeting would be on Monday, May 10, 2010 at 4:30 pm at the Central Office. She also announced the Sack
Lunch at Hampshire Unit School on May 12, 2010 at 11:30 am.
B. Personnel
Tori Weiss gave a presentation of the YMCA Corporate Membership for Maury County Public School
employees and Maury County Board of Education School Board Members.
Chair Daniels asked the Board to turn in Director Hickman’s evaluation to Executive Secretary Shirley
Johnson by May 4, 2010.
C. Instructional
Upon a motion by Mr. Dudley, seconded by Mr. Kindler, Board approved application for Consolidated
Federal Projects as presented.
Upon a motion by Mr. Pennings, seconded by Mr. Dudley, Board approved Tier II Funding for Mt. Pleasant
High School with the Director and his staff responsible for the distribution of the money. Vote 7-1 with Mr.
Morrison voting nay. Motion passed
Upon a motion by Mr. Dudley, seconded by Mr. Barner, Board approved the Spring Hill Middle School colors
as maroon with offsetting colors of black, white, and gold and the mascot being “The Generals”. Full Board
voted to approve the motion. Motion passed.
D. Finance
1. Manager of Business & Finance Walter Bobo presented the Report of Monthly Revenues & Expenditures.
Upon a motion by Mr. Dudley, seconded by Mr. Kindler, Board approved the Budget Amendments BA0114,
BA0117, BA0119, BA0120, and BA0121 as presented with the full Board voting to approve the motion.
Motion carried.
Upon a motion by Mr. Pennings, seconded by Mr. Dudley, Board approved the Revenue Anticipation Loan as
presented.

The Chairman thanked Wright Elementary School for leading the Pledge of Allegiance and the artwork. He
also wanted to congratulate those retiring.

Director asked everyone to keep James Bracken, County Finance Director in their prayers. He was seriously
injured in a mowing accident. He also asked everyone to keep Dr. Steen and Jerry Harrison in their prayers.
Dr. Steen’s mother passed away and Jerry Harrison mother is very sick.
