NJ Environmental Hazardous Substance List in RTK Substance # Order
NOTE:
Be advised that there are two (2) chemical categories, "Diisocyanates" and "Polycyclic aromatic compounds
(PACs)," for which reporting is restricted to the chemicals listed under the appropriate heading. If you have
more than 500 pounds in combination of any of the listed chemicals, you are to report them under the
compound category heading with the category number – Nxxx (that is, do not report the individual chemicals
or their CAS numbers). One diisocyanate compound, isophorone diisocyanate, is an ECPRA Section
302, Extremely Hazardous Substance and is reportable as a separate substance at the lower threshold of
100 pounds.
*
=
EPCRA Section 302 Extremely Hazardous Substance. The presence of Extremely Hazardous
Substances in quantities in excess of the Threshold Planning Quantity (TPQ) requires certain emergency
planning activities. For further information, contact the Bureau of Chemical Release Information and
Prevention at (609) 292-6714.
+
=
EPCRA Section 302 Extremely Hazardous Substances with a Threshold Planning Quantity (TPQ) of less
than 500 pounds. The reporting thresholds for those substances are lower than 500 pounds as indicated by
the TPQ for the particular chemical.
(S)
=
Synonym of Environmental Hazardous Substance listed elsewhere on this list.

Report only those materials (i.e. lopac, PVC or sarin) with the indicated CAS number.
NOTE:
The EHS list is also available in alphabetical order and by CAS number order on the department’s web
page. The address is www.state.nj.us/dep/enforcement/relprev/crtk. If you don’t have internet access,
please call the Bureau at (609) 292-6714 to obtain a copy of the list.
