PRODUCT
A.
Tray Drainage Module:
1.
High-density polyethylene injection molded plastic tray; 0.25 inch thick walls, with
approximately 14.5 square feet of planting area by approximately 8.5 inches deep.
2.
8 inch by 3 inch high channels shall be provided at tray bottom at 21 inches on center
in both directions to permit the use of a forklift from each side, and to manage
drainage and gas exchange in the soil.
3.
2 inch deep indentations at each corner for interlocking of modules during field
installation.
4.
Perforate bottom base of module for drainage, moisture injection, temperature control,
aeration, and gas exchange at the root zone. Drainage rate from perforations shall be
no less than 643 inches per hour.
5.
Empty tray weight shall be approximately 35.5 pounds.
6.
Turfed or planted module shall contain a minimum of 10 cubic feet of aggregates,
soils and planting materials and withstand minimum loading pressures of 45 pounds
per square inch.
B.
Tray Folding Fence:
1.
Polypropylene injection molded plastic fence, 0.195 inch wall thickness by
approximately 3 inches high.
2.
Hinged and locked to the edge of the tray module to provide containment of the root
zone during construction of each module prior to planting, seeding or sodding.
3.
Configure tray wall to permit easy removal or fold down flush against tray sides
without protruding beyond tray edge.
C.
Corrugated Sleeve Wall:
1.
Impact grade polypropylene corrugated graphics sheets, 10 mm thick, approx 0.40
pounds per square foot.
2.
Cut sleeve walls perpendicular to corrugations to height required to contain root zone
above the Drainage Tray prior to module installation. Fasten corners as
recommended by the sheet manufacturer.
3.
Fit sleeve tightly around tray module in place of Tray Folding Fence with corrugations
placed in a [vertical] [horizontal} orientation.
D.
Foot Locator Pad:
1.
High-density polyethylene injection molded plastic pad, 13 inches square with four
protrusions designed to interlock with indentions located in the corners of tray
modules.
2.
Locate protrusion knobs to force edges of adjacent Tray Drainage modules together
with a tolerance of 0.1 to 0.45 inches.
E.
Liner Sheet:
1.

Grade substrate to contour, grade and elevations indicated, approximately 11.5 to 12 inches
below finish grade elevation.
B.
Grade shall be smooth with breaks in grade of no more than 10 degrees.
C.
Provide liner sheets or solid surface substrate as required for the application.
INSTALLATION
A.
Upon establishment of sod or plant root zones, field locate and install Constructed Modules
using Foot Locator Pads at the corners of four adjacent modules forcing edges of root zone
together for a seamless installation. At outer edge of module field, cut Foot Locator pads in
half to hold only two adjacent modules in place.
B.
Field locate and install Tray Drainage Modules using Foot Locator Pads at the corners of
four adjacent modules pulling edges of adjacent trays together. At outer edge of module
field, cut Foot Locator pads in half to hold only two adjacent modules in place. Fill with
aggregate and soils and establish landscaping materials as specified in Section __________________.
