Introduction
CSIR headquarters library plays an important role in providing
information relevant to CSIR; and R & D activities of its
laboratories. The library started functioning from 1964.
The library remains open from Monday to Friday, 9.00
5.30 P.M.
A.M. to
Membership
CSIR headquarters library caters mainly to the information needs
of in-house scientific; technical; and administrative staff.
Membership to the library is open for public on liberal terms.
Three types of membership (download membership form) are
available for the public:

General Membership (Annual Fee Rs. 200/-. A member can
only use the library resources);
Special Membership for individual member (Annual Fee Rs.
500/- against security deposit of Rs. 1000/- with a facility to
borrow two books);
Institutional Membership for companies (Annual Fee Rs.
1000/- against security deposit of Rs. 2000/- with a facility
to borrow three books).
Online access to databases; and photocopying facility is available
to the library members.
Services
The library offers services like reference and referral; circulation;
document delivery; literature search facility; access to electronic
journals; database search facility etc.
Resources
The print collection of the library comprises mainly of books;
journals on diverse field of science/technology and management
(Titles of Journals A-Z list); brochures/information bulletins of
CSIR and its laboratories; annual reports of CSIR and other
eminent R & D organizations.
Electronic resources include CDs (Titles of CD ROM’s A-Z list); and
databases like Industry Analysis Service of CMIE; and Indian
standards.
Access to electronic journals; patents; databases (Link to CSIR ejournals) is available of leading publishers like American Chemical
Society;
Elsevier; Oxford University Press; Springer; Wiley
Blackwell; Institute for Scientific Information etc.
Online Catalogue
The Library catalogue incorporates books; CDs; journals with their
back volumes; annual reports; information bulletins/brochures of
CSIR and its laboratories; journal articles; and member issue
status.
The catalogue may be searched by selecting either individual
database i.e. English books; Hindi books; Compact Disks; Lab.
Publications; Annual Reports or through combined data search
option.
