Dear members of the Institutional Review Board,
As part of the process for ethics approval for the project entitled “The McGill Educational
Initiative on Interprofessional Collaboration: Partnerships for Patient and Family-Centred
Practice”, the following documents have been submitted for review: (a) covering letter
containing an executive summary of the protocol, (b) initial review form, (c) protocol, and (d)
consent forms. Due to the minimal risk for participants, we are requesting an expedited review.
This project has brought together health care professionals from medicine, nursing, physical
therapy, and occupational therapy, and educational partners. This group of professionals has
collaborated on the development of the formal protocol (attached), as well as the consent forms
for the three groups of participants (attached). Once the English versions of these consent forms
are approved, they will be translated into French and made available to prospective participants.
Should funding be secured from Health Canada, the opportunity to promote interprofessional
education and patient-centered practice within the McGill health care community and in the
Faculty of Medicine will be advanced considerably with the ultimate objective of improving
health care to patients and families.
Should you have questions regarding this submission for ethics approval, please feel free to
contact either one of the lead investigators at the coordinates listed above.
Sincerely,
Dr. Margaret Purden
Dr. David Fleiszer
