permission from the British Governor of the Leeward Islands to settle on Vieques.1
He was settled on Vieques in about November 1717.2

1. George Lucas Osborn was born on Antigua, on 21 March 1713.4
He was married in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at Christ Church, on 5 December
1735, to Jane Renaudet, 5 who was born in New York, on 1 April 1710,6 and baptized in
the New York City Dutch Reformed Church on 3 April 1717. Her father was James

Renaudet (c1695-1753) and her mother was Belitje [Belitie] Hooglandt (b. before 22
August 1697-1768).7
The Osborn family arrived on St Croix in 1753.
He died on St. Croix and was buried in the Christiansted Anglican Church
churchyard on 13 May 1762, age 49 years old.8
She died in Philadelphia on 6 January 1803,9 aged 88.10

4. Elizabeth Petronella [Priscilla] Osborn was born on St. Kitts, on 26 June
1741 and was baptized by Rev. John Merl [Merac].16
She was married on St. Croix at Mrs. Osborn's [her mother] home on St. Croix by
the Anglican Priest, on 27 August 1767, to Lucas Benners,17 who was born about 1740.
She was a widow in 1787, living in Lucas Benner, Senior's, home at 27 Company
Street, Christiansted, with a daughter and a son.18
5. James Osborn was born on St. Kitts, on 17 October 174 and baptized by Rev.
John Merl [Merac].19
He died on 26 November 1743. 20
6. Fraser Mathews Osborn [or, Matthew Frazier Osborn] was born on St. Kitts
on 17 December 1743 and baptized by Rev. John Merl [Merac].21
From 1770 to 1772, he was resident in Nicolay Salomon & Michael Schoy's
house at 4 King Street, Christiansted.22
He was married by an Anglican priest at Mr. Pappeen's residence on 3 June 1773,
to Mary Pappeen [Puppen23].24 In 1773, they took up residence at his 55 Company
Street home in Christiansted.25
From 1773 to 1775, he had his own house at 55 Company Street, Christiansted.26

8. Mary Grace Osborn was born on St. Kitts, on 28 March 1746 and baptized
by Rev. John Merl [Merac].31
She was married on 3 May 1775 at Mr. Osborn's residence on St. Croix by the
Anglican Minister to Nicolaas/Nicholas Verkylm/Verkyl Winkler/Winckler.32
On 6 January 1776, they were resident at 18 Strand Street, Christiansted, the
property of Pieter Wood, and it was just the two of them resident.33
On 11 January 1779, she was living alone at 1 Church Street, Christiansted, the
property of Richard T. Hunt.34
She was a widow by May 1777, when she stood as a godparent at a baptism.35
She was remarried on 15 January 1781 at Mrs. Winkler's residence by the
Anglican Minister to James Toomy.36
9. Jane Frances Osborn was born on St. Kitts, on 23 September 1748 and
baptized by Rev. John Merl [Merac].37
She was married in the Christiansted Anglican Church on 26 May 1765, to
William Malcolm.
She was married again at Christ Church, Philadelphia, PA on 29 January 1777 to
Charles Christian Cholones.

11. Peter James Osborn was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 6 April

12. Isabella/Sabella Osborn was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 2
September, 1752, and baptized at Christ Church, Philadelphia, PA, 31 October 1752 by
Mr. Jenny. 42
She was married in Christ Church, Philadelphia, PA on 28 November 1797, to
John Marie Debordes, born about 1750.43
13. John Adrian Osborn was born on St. Croix on 14 February 1755 and was
baptized by the Rev’nd. Mr. Cecil Goodchild. 44
He was married on St. Croix by the Anglican Minister at William Hartman's
residence, on 16 August 1781, to Mary Richardson,45 born on 6 December 1766, and
baptized in the Anglican Church on 5 April 1767.46
He died in about 1784.47
In 1787 & 1791, she was living at 4a Hospital Street, Christiansted.48

14. Russel Lillie Osborn was born on St. Croix on 22 November 1756 and was
baptized by the Rev’nd. Mr. Cecil Goodchild. 49 She was the goddaughter of Thomas and
Dorcas Lillie.
She was married on St. Croix on 13 May 1781 at Mrs. Lillie's residence by the
Anglican Minister to John Salomon Hunt, who was born in about 1752.50
He died in 1813.51
She died on about 23 December 1816.52

She was married in the home of John Salomon Hunt by the Anglican Priest, on 18
March 1802, to Luke Codwise, born in New York, and arrived on St. Croix in about
1802.

December 1784, at John Carden’s estate at 1 East End B Quarter.58
---------------Jane Osborne was married on 4 October 1787 at Mr. John Carden's residence on
St. Croix by the Anglican Minister to Samuel Abbott.59
----------------[Lass Olsen Werner was born in Copenhagen in about 1786 and was baptized in

was baptized in the Episcopal Church.61]

was born on St. Croix in about 1776, and was baptized in the Lutheran Church. 63 She
was classified as Black.64
In 1816, she was living with her children at 29 Queen Street, Christiansted and
was employed as a Washer.65
She died on 3 August 1816.66
