Violence Free BC: Sexual Assault: Strengthening Responses on Post-Secondary Campuses Application Form & Information Revised November 27, 2015 One-time grant funding of up to $20,000 (per project) and up to $50,000 (for projects with a regional or provincial scope) is now available to develop or enhance responses on post-secondary campuses in BC to sexual assault. Violence Free BC refers to “A Vision for a Violence Free BC”, a provincial strategy released in February 2015. The strategy combines immediate actions with a long term vision for ending all forms of violence against women in BC, including sexual violence. The funding has become available through proceeds from civil forfeiture. The Civil Forfeiture Act came into effect in April of 2006 with the goal of targeting the profit motive behind illegal activities. Under the legislation, property can be forfeited where it has been proven that it has been acquired as a result of unlawful activity, or has been used for unlawful activity. Proceeds from the sale of assets (e.g., houses, cars, or boats) are paid into a special account which can be used for a number of specified purposes, including actions which support the prevention or remediation of crime. Funds are being distributed by the Civil Forfeiture Office (CFO) in partnership with the Victim Services and Crime Prevention Division (VSCPD), Ministry of Justice. Project funding is one-time only in nature. All applications must be received no later than 4:30 p.m. on Thursday December 17, 2015. VSCPD will be accepting applications by e-mail only. Incomplete and/or late applications will not be considered. Please note that funding is limited and not all applicants will receive funding.
