Professor Schoeman graduated from the University of Pretoria in 1991, then spent
seven years in private practice and one year in academia before joining his alma mater
in February 2000. Johan has an active research interest in critical illness endocrinology.
He has recently completed a PhD on the subject at the University of Cambridge and has
several publications in this field. He is a recognized specialist in small animal internal
medicine in the UK, Europe and South Africa and enjoys teaching all aspects of
problem-based learning, especially endocrinology, cardiology and infectious diseases.
He is currently coordinator of research at the department of CACS and director of the
ECVIM residency programme.
