Re: Invitation to the Spring 2006 Meeting
Dear Housing and Population Health Working Group Members:
You are cordially invited to the Spring meeting of the National Housing Research Committee
(NHRC)’s Housing and Population Health Working Group which will be held this year on
Tuesday, May 2nd at 9:00 at the InterContinental Hotel, 360 St-Antoine Street West, Montreal
in the Sarah Bernhardt room.
This NHRC meeting should prove to be a very interesting and informative networking
opportunity for all participants. To complement the international reach of the World Urban
Forum in Vancouver in June, the NHRC’s Administrative Committee has decided to
incorporate an international theme at its Spring session. Every Working Group has invited an
international housing research-related speaker (one of typically two or three speakers). The
City of Vancouver and Laval University will be attending as the rotating municipal and
academic representatives.
Please note that the Spring session also includes an organized bus tour on Sunday, April 30th
which should prove to be very interesting. The reception on Tuesday, May 2nd at 5:00, will
start with short addresses by SHQ, CMHC and the invited rotating members. An optional
group dinner after the reception (note: at each participant’s expense) at the Bonaparte
Restaurant will also allow for more informal interaction and networking.
The following page includes the overall schedule, hotel booking details and the response
form. Note: after April 7th, the block of hotel rooms will be released and the rates will be
increased to $214 with no guarantee of availability. The draft Housing and Population Health
Working Group agenda is included as a separate attachment. Please let us know by April 7th
whether or not you plan to attend.
I look forward to seeing you at the Spring Session of the National Housing Research
Committee. Should you have any questions, concerns, or ideas, feel free to contact me. I can
be reached at (613) 748-2446 or by e-mail at the following address: nwalker@cmhc.ca
Sincerely,
Nancy Walker
