Sir John Cass’s Foundation Lord Mayor’s Scholarship Programme
London Metropolitan University has been granted scholarships funded jointly by Sir John
Cass’s Foundation and the Lord Mayor’s Office in the City of London. These scholarships will
be awarded to full-time undergraduate students who started a course at London Metropolitan
University in September 2014. The awards are for up to £7,000 a year (they could be smaller)
and will be payable for each year of undergraduate study. Payment of the awards for future
years would be subject to the Foundation receiving a report from London Metropolitan
University indicating that academic progress, attitude and attendance were acceptable. It is
envisaged that recipients of the scholarship will use it to pay their tuition fees with the balance
contributing towards maintenance and everyday expenses.
To be eligible for the Sir John Cass’s Foundation Lord Mayor’s Scholarship you must meet
the following criteria:




Be aged under 25 on 1 September 2014
Be a permanent resident of one of the following London Boroughs and have lived
there for at least one year: Camden, City of London, Greenwich, Hackney,
Hammersmith and Fulham, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea, Lambeth, Lewisham,
Newham, Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Wandsworth or Westminster.
Be eligible for student support and have been assessed by Student Finance England
as having a residual household income of £42,620 a year or less.
Be enrolled on a full time 1st year undergraduate degree in a STEM subject (Science,
Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)

The closing date for receipt of applications is 3rd October 2014. Please enclose a photocopy
of your Financial Support Notification from Student Finance Direct if you have it. Your
application will be considered initially by a Scholarships Panel at London Metropolitan
University who will select five applications to put forward to Sir John Cass’s Foundation. The
final selection will be made by the Foundation.
