Board Rule 345.1
SPECIFIC GRADING SYSTEMS
High School
The following grade point values shall be assigned to each grade for computation of a student’s grade point
average (GPA) at the high school:
A = 4.0
A- = 3.67
B+ = 3.33
B = 3.0
B- = 2.67
C+ = 2.33
C = 2.0
C- = 1.67
D+ = 1.33
D = 1.0
D- = .67
F=0
An “Incomplete” shall be given when a teacher’s requirements for a specific course have not been met.
Incompletes must be made up within two weeks (10 school days). If not, a failing grade shall be recorded
unless a medical excuse will extend beyond that time limit.
Grades shall not be weighted.
Pass/fail grades shall not be included in a student’s GPA.
All subjects shall be counted in a student’s GPA except driver’s education and physical education.
Grades and credits earned in a study abroad program shall be included in a student’s GPA.
Grades earned while enrolled in a home-based private educational program shall not be recorded on a
Marathon High School transcript. Grades and GPAs from home-based instruction shall not be used for
class standings, etc. In the event that a home-based student has attended a recognized and accredited public
or private high school for single or multiple semesters or years, the credits earned at such school(s) may be
accepted as recorded by said school.
Grades and credits acquired through an alternative school program shall apply toward a student’s GPA only
if the program has been accredited by the North Central Association or another regional association.
Grades and credits earned in another country by a student with permanent resident status shall be included
in the student’s GPA.
Elementary School
Specific grading systems shall be developed for various grade levels by the building principal.
