Manuscript Collections
Most of the manuscript materials held by the Goschenhoppen Historians are
stored in the vault. There is also a significant amount of material upstairs in
the library, and a few items framed or on display in museum exhibitions.
The Historical Society of Pennsylvania’s Hidden Collections Initiative for
Pennsylvania Small Archival Repositories (HCI-PSAR) was a project whose goal
was to make better known and more accessible the important but often hidden
archival collections held by the many small, primarily volunteer-run historical
organizations in the Philadelphia area. The project was funded by a grant from
the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
On November 8 and December 13, 2011, HCI-PSAR project staff surveyed the
archival collections of the Goschenhoppen Historians, Inc. (GH). The surveyors
identified fourteen “collections” held by GH. The collections are listed below
and more fully described on the pdf. description that is appended.
