Position Purpose
Reporting directly to the Librarian of the College, the Librarian-Scholar, Special Collections,
provides programmatic and strategic leadership in: (1) the integration and utilization of
special collections in teaching and research programs at Dartmouth College, and where
appropriate, the larger scholarly community; (2) building and curating unique collections for
research; and (3) developing Dartmouth College archives for both scholarly and public
information purposes.

collection management
directions and issues.
 Ability and desire to

 Demonstrated capacity to
foster change in an
academic setting.
 Reading knowledge of at
least one western
European foreign
language.
 Excellent oral and written
communication skills.
 Understanding and
commitment to use of
digital technology.
 Potential for successful
relations with alumni and
development.
 Minimum of 10 years
 Ph.D. in the humanities or
progressively responsible
social sciences, with
experience within an
