Researcher (Disciplinary sector BIO/02) at the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences,
Sapienza University of Rome. He belongs to the CAD of Science and Technology for Nature, the
Environment and the Territory.
University education
1982 – Laurea in Biology, summa cum laude, at the University of Rome "La Sapienza".
Career
1985 - 1990 scholarship holder and then as a contractor worker as a botanist at the assessorship of Culture of
the Region of Lazio for the Plan of Survey and Cataloguing of the Cultural and Environmental Heritage of
Lazio (CRD).
1990 - 2001 Curator of the Herbarium (RO) of the Department of Environmental Biology, Sapienza
University of Rome.
From 2001 to today, he is a Researcher at the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences,
Sapienza University of Rome.

theses on scientific lines of research concerning the taxonomic, floristic and bioindication of inland waters
by means of macrophytes.
He lectures in the Herbarium Museum where he organizes training activities related to the museum for the
students of the graduate and master degrees in Natural and Environmental Sciences. He also organizes
exhibitions and educational courses.
Author of more than 90 scientific publications.

Main scientific interests
PLANT TAXONOMY
Taxonomic and biosystematic investigations on critical taxa of Italian vascular flora (Salicornia,
Sarcocornia, Arthrocnemum, Puccinellia, Agrostis, Sempervivum, Lemna, Bupleurum, Trifolium,
Callitriche, Limonium).
FLORA, PLANT GEOGRAPHY AND PHYTOSOCIOLOGY
Vascular flora of central Italy.
Floristic cartography.
Surveys on flora and vegetation communities of inland and coastal waters.
PLANT ECOLOGY E BIOINDICATION
Investigations on macrophytic communities and bioindication of inland waters in Central Italy.
MUSEOLOGY
Studies of botanical collections (Herbarium RO, Sapienza University of Rome).
