Study Programmes - Economics and Management Business Economics The Bachelor’s degree branch of study - Business Economics is conceived in order to give graduates the ability to orient themselves both theoretically and practically in the market economy. Graduates will gain an overview of a wide range of legal and organizational forms of business, approaches to the management and financing of companies, and the monitoring and evaluation of a company’s economic activity under various operating conditions. Graduates will be able to find employment in manufacturing and non-manufacturing companies as professional economists on the middle management level. Other areas of potential employment include non-commercial organizations such as chambers of commerce, commercial associations, and state-sector institutions involved in company economics. Pavel Blecharz E mail: pavel.blecharz@vsb.cz Management Students of the Bachelor’s degree branch of study - Management will gain knowledge focusing on processes in the management of private-sector production companies for the first-line and middle levels of management. The degree offers courses concentrating on operational economics and efficiency analysis with regard to accounting, taxation and financing, personnel processes, wages, the realization and analysis of management and organizational structures, including the application of legal knowledge in activities taking place within commercial organizations. Graduates will also gain a deeper knowledge of the management of production and services, as well as acquiring sociopsychological knowledge applicable in managerial activities. PhDr. Iva Kirovová, Ph.D. E mail: iva.kirovova@vsb.cz Marketing and Business The Bachelor’s degree branch of study - Marketing and Business is designed to ensure that graduates are capable of operating both theoretically and practically with the key concepts of marketing and commerce, especially from the micro-economic viewpoint. The basis of the degree is a general foundation which is then complemented by a range of knowledge drawn from company economics, management, and especially marketing and commerce-related disciplines: marketing research and applications, consumer behaviour, and commercial activities. E mail: lenka.kauerova@vsb.cz Accounting and Taxes The aim of the Bachelor’s degree branch of study – Accounting and Taxes is to train future qualified professionals who are able to carry out specialist work and hold managerial posts in accounting and taxation at mid-level management. Studies are structured and designed with a view to enabling graduates to find employment in the accounting and taxation divisions of manufacturing and commercial companies, non-manufacturing organizations, financial institutions, and state administration organizations. The degree subject allows students to gain knowledge and practical skills in the following areas: accounting in manufacturing and non-manufacturing companies, cost management, calculations, pricing, management accounting, taxation and tax administration, knowledge of related legislation. E mail: jan.siroky@vsb.cz European Business Studies The Bachelor´s degree programme in European Business Studies is aimed at providing talented and motivated students with various professional capabilities needed to become leading experts in management and business. Typical features of the programme are a relatively great emphasis put on the practical applicability of the acquired knowledge and competencies, as well as its European focus, as compared to alternative business-oriented programmes. The core of the programme represents obligatory courses in managerial economics, management, marketing, business administration, finance, accounting, and related areas, of which many reflect the EU context. In each semester students can also choose from a wide offer of optional courses like International Monetary Relations, International Business, E-business application etc. In the last semester students participate in practical placements abroad or in the Czech Republic. Graduates can pursue their career in middle management in industry, trade or services. They can also work in EU administration, or continue in the master programme. Contact person: doc. Ing.
