Sharpie markers /artist pens / India ink
Black, white, gray or colored paper
Paint, colored pencils etc.
Foam core, matboard/other found hard board (for covers or page support)
Found book or box (transformed by you)
Collage2D/3D mixed media
Photoshop/Illustrator (if computer option is chosen, Final Design MUST be
incorporated into a tangible book! i.e. add cover(s) or “house” for your designs…and
inclusion of hands-on elements: paint, collage etc.)
METHODS of construction you can choose from:
1. “Found Book” Transformed
Create minimum of 3 signatures to replace book’s interior.
A signature is a page folded in half = front page, centerfold, and back page.
Redesign the front and back covers of found book.
*Optional: incorporate original pages of the book and incorporate your design over
original text/images.
2. “Deck of Cards”
Create 6 individual “pages/cards”
Design and create your own box in which the cards will live.
3. “Accordion Book”
Attach 6 pages together in a seamless manner, so that the book stands and can be “read”
all at once upon opening.
Design and Create your own BookEnds—front/back cover
4. “Your Own Book Design”
This is possible with approved theme, medium and method of construction
