Brief church history and Community
Fort William Baptist Church is an evangelical church family that has been in existence for over 100 years
in the city of Thunder Bay. We are pursuing a gospel-centered ministry and are linked within the
network of churches associated with The Gospel Coalition. Desiring God Ministries has played a
significant role in the formation of our philosophy of ministry. By the grace of God, we are in a period of
encouraging growth and transition. God has given us a heart to spread the joy of knowing His glory
across generations, throughout this community, and to the ends of the earth.
Our church passion statement declares that our God-given ambition is to spread a passion to prize God
supremely, to praise God wholeheartedly, and to proclaim God universally. In seeking to spread our joy
in the Lord, we have prayerfully made three areas of ministry our focal points. Our desire is to build
bridges to the next generation, to this community and to the nations. With God’s help, we are sharing
together in new and exciting ministries that seek to spread our passion for God.
