Music Major Scholarships
Freshman, Sophomore and Junior music majors and minors may audition each Spring semester they are in
residence for annual music scholarships of varying amounts based on meeting criteria listed in this form,
audition, GPA and hours of enrollment (12 minimum).
Audition Dates Auditions are held in mid-Spring for returning students only.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Students applying for this scholarship must:
1. Be in residence and enrolled at OLLU
2. Be seeking a Bachelor of Arts in Music or Music Minor at Our Lady of the Lake University.
3. Have previous private music instruction in the major performing area.
4. Have participated in high school or college music groups (with the exception of pianists).
5. Have a 3.0 GPA
6. Submit a letter explaining why he/she should be considered for this scholarship. This should include the
repertoire performed within the last year.
7. Submit one letter of recommendation from a private instructor or from a director of band, chorus or
ensemble.
8. Submit all letters and completed music scholarship application to:

REPERTOIRE GUIDELINES FOR SCHOLARSHIP AUDITION
*Freshmen and transfer students follow guidelines for submission of CD recording with OLLU Application for
Admission.
PERFORMANCE -- Provide copies of sheet music for faculty
Accompanist must be provided by the applicant, where needed.
Piano
-Two works of contrasting style and historical period
-Scales and studies appropriate to level of study.
Voice
-Three songs of contrasting style and language
-Scales and studies appropriate to level of study.
Guitar
-Three solo works chosen from three different historical periods at a level of moderate difficulty.
-Scales and studies appropriate to level of study.
Strings
-Two works of contrasting style, one concerto movement preferable
-Scales and studies appropriate to level of study.
Wind and Brass
-Two works of contrasting style and historical period, containing contrasting tempos and articulation.
-Scales and studies appropriate to level of study.
Mariachi
-Three songs showing contrasting styles and techniques
-Scales and studies appropriate to instrument (i.e., violin, guitarron, vihuela)
