3 shallow plastic containers with lids

3 colours of paint – black, red and white

3 paintbrushes

Method
1. Paint the exterior of each container and lid with a coloured paint.
2. When dry, place approximately 250 mL (1 cup) of water into each container.
3. Measure and record the temperature of the water in each container.
4. Place the lids on the containers.
5. Place all containers in a sunny position.
6. Measure the temperature of the water in each container 10 minutes apart over a
minimum of 1 hour.
7. Record your observations.
8. Discuss your findings with your class.
