INSTRUCTIONAL POLICY 114.1
ONLINE INSTRUCTION
This policy is needed to ensure quality online instruction and equivalent levels of
student achievement.
1.1 Online courses will be equivalent to on-campus courses in curriculum content and
instructional activities. Expectation of student achievement will also be equivalent.
1.2 Syllabi will be submitted to the Dean of Instruction’s office each semester. Syllabi
will reflect same course content as the on-campus class only modified for online
delivery.
1.3 Instructors are to maintain an attendance record based on attendance procedures
as outlined in the course syllabi.
1.4 Students will evaluate the online course each semester for an instructor’s first year
of teaching an online course; subsequent course evaluations will follow the
instructional evaluation policy. Evaluation results will be distributed to the instructor.
Instructors will discuss evaluations with the division chair and/or dean of instruction
and will respond to areas of concern in the faculty evaluation portfolio.
1.5 Online class evaluations will be conducted by the Dean of Instruction or designee
each semester for non-tenured faculty and each spring for tenured faculty.
1.6 Instructors are responsible for establishing and communicating to students their
expectation of behavior and the importance of academic honesty. The online
testing center or other approved proctoring devices may be used for exams.
1.7 Instructors will respond to students in a timely manner. Each syllabus will reflect an
appropriate response time.
1.8 Student learning outcomes will be measured for designated online courses.
1.9 Instructors will ensure that the same student who participates in and completes the
course receives the credit for the course by verifying the identity of the student who
participates in class or coursework.

Instructors will ensure the use of school approved identification software,
proctored examinations, and/or other technologies that are effective in
verifying student identification.

Instructors will ensure the use of student identification software or other
school approved student identification technologies before completing
major assignments and/or tests if test proctoring is not used.
