QC Mallards Report Card Night- Friday, March 2nd Mallards vs. Fr. Wayne at 7:05. Students who earn an “A” can use
their report card to get a FREE TICKET to the game! Students can receive their ticket from the Mallards front office or

Stephanie Jones Memorial Award
A $500 award will be given to a senior boy and girl who have consistently exemplified the best qualities of a congenial and principled
lifestyle at school as well as in the community.
Tom W. and Lindsey G. Nicholson Memorial Award
A $750 award will be given to a senior boy and girl who have consistently exemplified the best qualities of a congenial and principled
lifestyle at school as well as in the community. In essence, it is awarded to an individual who you would like to have as your nextdoor neighbor.
Orion Lion’s Club Scholarship
To be awarded to: Any graduating Orion High School senior student who is related to an Orion Lions Club member (parent,
grandparent, uncle or aunt) and is seeking higher education for the upcoming school year at a college, university, business, or trade
school.
GREGORY F. NIGHTINGALE $500 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS
Two $500.00 scholarships will be given each year to one senior boy and one senior girl graduating from Orion High School that
exemplifies a love of the game of soccer and exhibits enthusiasm in their participation during practices and games.
MATTHEW H. ANDRAE $500 ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP
“This award is given to one who best exemplifies leadership, dedication, being a team player and having a strong work ethic on and
off the field. These assets Matt employed throughout his life.” This award will be given to a senior that participated in at least 2
sports their senior year and is going to attend a 2-4 year college in the fall.
Orion Education Association Scholarship(OEA)
A one year $750, non-renewable award will be given to a senior student who will enroll in a college or university and major in an
education or an education related field.
Peterson Scholarship--$3000
A renewable scholarship is being offered to one Orion High School student who has been accepted to an accredited school to prepare
for a career in the field of his/her choice. You must have at least a 3.0 to apply.
Myron M. Robinson Trust- Scholarship Program
The Robinson Scholarship is a one-time award given to an Orion senior who will be attending an accredited institution under a
curriculum leading to certification as a registered nurse, a medical doctor, or a medical technician. The amount of any one scholarship
shall not exceed $600. Selection will be made on the following criteria.
Paul A. Peterson Computer Science Scholarship
This is a $500 renewable scholarship for someone interested in computer studies(computer technology, computer science, computer
engineering, computer repair or software development). Pick up and application in the office if interested.
AMVETS Service Foundation Scholarship: Deadline is March 1, 2012. Applications and information is available at
www.ilamvets.org Preference is given to children and grandchildren of veterans. One scholarship is for Nursing students and one if
for a student going to a Trade school.
US Bank Scholarship: $1,000 award. Deadline is March 31, 2012. Apply online at usbank.com/scholarship
National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA): Deadline: March 1, 2012. (2) $3,500 awards and (4) $2,000 awards will be
given. Any student can apply, but priority is given to students planning to study Business, Transportation Logistics, and Physical
Distribution. See Ms. Nolan for an application.
IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union Scholarship: Deadline: March 1, 2012. IHMVCU will be offering (24) $1,000 scholarships for
members of their Credit Union. Applications are available at ihmvcu.org/scholarships
South Rock Island Township Assessor’s Scholarship: Deadline: March 1, 2012. (7) $2,000 Scholarships will be awarded. Must
plan to attend an Illinois college or university. Minimum GPA of 3.0 or better. See Ms. Nolan for an application.
Augustana Art Portfolio Scholarship: Deadline: March 10, 2012. Must submit 6 to 20 original works and plan to attend Augustana.

Illinois Division of Sons of Confederate Veterans Scholarship: Deadline: March 15, 2012. Student must be a descendant of a male
who served honorably in the Army, Navy, Judicial, Executive, or Civil Service of the Confederate States of America. See Ms. Nolan
for an application.
Illinois-Iowa Section of the American Chemical Society: Deadline: April 1, 2012. Must be pursuing studies in chemistry,
biochemistry, or chemical engineering. See Ms. Nolan for an application.
Mississippi Valley Chapter of ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers) Scholarship:
Deadline: April 27, 2012. Must plan to study Mechanical Engineering or HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning).

Tri County School Food Service Association Scholarship: Deadline is March 1, 2012. Applicant should plan to major in Food
Service, Home Economics, Dietetics, Child Care or other related health fields. Any degree that involves children. Amount is $200.

Fast Pitch; launch your business idea: Deadline is March 1, 2012. Winner gets a new ipad, a $400 tuition waiver to Black Hawk
College’s IL SBDC certification program, advice from professionals, and a “Street Sense Marketing Bootcamp”. Details are on the

Ablities Plus Endowment: Deadline is March 23, 2012. Two,$500 scholarships will be awarded. Must be pursuing a career in the
human service fields. Ideal candidates will be pursuing a career working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays.

Rock Island Post Society of American Military Engineers: Deadline is April 2, 2012. Applicants must have acceptance into an

Quad Cities ASCE Scholarship: Deadline is April 6, 2012. Up to $1,000 award. Must be enrolling in a Civil Engineering

Iowa PGA Section Charlie Burkart Scholarship Application: Deadline is June 15, 2012. $1,000 award given for four years (total
$4,000). Applicants should show an interest and activity in golf and have potential for future contributions to the game. See Ms.
