Theatre Britain presents HOW THE OTHER HALF LOVES
Theatre Britain presents How The Other Half Loves by Alan Ayckbourn, opening at 8pm on Friday, September
11 at the Cox Building Playhouse, 1517 H Avenue, Plano TX 75074 and running through October 4.
Bob and Fiona are having an affair. When both get home late one night and face questions from their respective
spouses, they concoct a story about a third couple, William and Mary, needing help with matrimonial problems
Absolutely fine since their spouses will never check with William and Mary, will they?
What they don't know is that Fiona's husband, Frank, has invited William and Mary to dinner. And Bob's wife,
Teresa, anxious to help, does the same thing. The dinners are on consecutive nights, but take place on stage at
the same time, with hilarious results!
How The Other Half Loves is directed by Sue Birch and features Bryan Brooks, Robin Clayton, Michael McNiel,
Mary-Margaret Pyeatt, Robert San Juan and Sky Williams. Set design by Darryl P Clement, lighting design by
Natalie Paige, costume design by Shanna Gobin, wig and hair design by Don Hall and with original music by
Aaron Fryklund.
Alan Ayckbourn has written 77 plays and his work has been translated into over 35 languages. Major successes
include Relatively Speaking, Absurd Person Singular, Bedroom Farce, A Chorus of Disapproval and The
Norman Conquests. In 2009, he retired as artistic director of the Stephen Joseph, where almost all his plays
have been and continue to be first staged. In recent years, he has been inducted into American Theatre’s Hall of
Fame, received the 2010 Critics’ Circle Award for Services to the Arts and became the first British playwright to
receive both Olivier and Tony Special Lifetime Achievement Awards. He was knighted in 1997 for services to
the theatre.
