Alain P. Bourcier, chartered physical therapist, specialist in continence and urodynamicist. He is Consultant in
different hospitals and he is a Director of pelvic floor rehabilitation Unit in Paris, France.
He directs this 2-day intensive course for physcical therapsits and health care providers who have some
experience in pelvic floor rehabilitation and would like to become more knwledgeable in this field. The field of
Physical Therapy has gained worldwide recognition and respect over the years, and is now a well-defined
profession with precise treatment modalities and therapeutic approaches. Urogynecology physical therapy is a
missing dimension in our field, and is a new job which needs to receive a proper training so that the PT can
provide the best techniques for many patients who suffer from a various conditions of pelvic floor disorders.

Course Goals
This course provides the health care professionals with a better understanding of the
pathophysiology of pelvic floor disorders with a specific focus on pelvic floor
rehabilitation including pelvic floor muscles training programmes, biofeedback and
electrotsimulation.
At the end of this seminar, participants will be able to:
 Understand the physiopathology of lower urinary tract as well as anorectal
disorders
 Delevop conservative strategies for pelvic floor dysfunction
 Recognize behavioral interventions and physical therapies
 Adapt pelvic floor rehab. techniques according to the type of pelvic floor
disorders
