Unknown Photos Provided by Mary Joyce Strzelczyk and found among her Aunt Ida Page
Bryan’s collection:
Photo #3:
This mystery has been solved with
the helpful clues of Pat Doster via
genforum on the internet regarding
the Warren and Maddox families,
1850, 1870, 1900 censuses of PG
Co. MD and the writing on the back
of the photo.
The 1900 census for Dist #9 PG Co.
MD enumerates John L Warren
(Physician) and H Belle (b. Apr
1860).. Warren with sisters-in-law,
Carrie (age 33) and Edith P. (age
26) Hunter. H. Belle was born in
VA but her sisters in MD.
The 1870 census of Surratts PG Co.
enumerates the families (as
neighbors) of the brothers, John and
Joseph Hunter with Ida in Joseph’s
family and Carrie and Hester B.
‘Belle’ in John’s Family. Edith P
Hunter (b. 1874) named for John and
Joseph’s sister, Edith (b. 1840)
(1850 MD census) was not yet born.
Interestingly, the respective families
of John and Joseph Hunter,
neighbors in Surrattsville, lived a
few doors down from the infamous
John and Mary Jenkins.
The 1850 census for Robert Wade
Hunter has him a very WEALTHY
ship carpenter at 17000 more than
that of Wm Bryan of Richard at
16400 for the same census year.
Bernard would be the father [Belles
great grandfather] of Elizabeth
Bryan who married Robert Wade
Hunter. We yet know if this is a
different Bryan family than John H
B’s but the 1850 census has the
entire family born in DC
differentially from later census.
The ‘Second Cousin’ I believe
should be 1st cousin once
removed(?)
The above pedigree chart only displays the parties of interest for clarity and space. Other children exist on most marriage lines.
